I'm game for reincarnating Abe for the 2008 election. Think of the fun he would have with the current crop of candidates. I can't think of any of them that could handle himself with dignity, humor and credibility. Old Abe could tell a yarn or two, whereas the best the candidates today can muster is a quick quip (and ironically, John McCain is probably the closest thing to Lincoln on the podium).

Abe would be a terrible candidate. Look at that haircut! And that face! Whose going to vote for a tall skinny guy with a face like that. Besides he keeps spouting these radical ideas. Why, if he got ellected half the country woulr rebel.

Sigh. Isn't it sad that the above comic paragraph has so much truth in it?

Larry - yes, sad and true. The age of television and You Tube has helped to emphasize the "public relations" side of the candidates. All of them are so afraid to stray from their tested talking points for fear of someone spinning a minor faux pas into a major cyclone.
