BeMarijuana is..."cause of some confusion, let me explain that the ITALICIZED words are MINE. They are MY opinion, MY thoughts, MY take, MY spin, etc. The letter from MPP starts with "Marijuana is..."
This is from WWW.MPP.ORG people are encouraged to share these emails. Please, help stop the lies from D.C. Just imagine how much we could lower the national debt if we legalized Marijuana. If we can charge $7 (in MI) for a pack of cigarettes, imagine how much we could charge for a pack of joints!
An excellent documentary on this subject is "In Pot We Trust" and it DOES present BOTH sides of the issue. It has a DEA agent going on busts, etc. However, they also tell you about the people that DO have LEGAL prescriptions from the FEDERAL government. They had the prescription from BEFORE the law AGAINST medical use and had to be "grandfathered" in to recieve their prescriptions. They have one of the men on who gets a cookie tin of joints from the government every month because of a rare type of bone cancer that he has.
I hope this clears up the confusion...
THE LETTER FROM MPP STARTS HERE!-
“Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit.”
— White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske, at a Fresno, Calif., press conference yesterday
Not again.
In fact — and it's getting a little tiresome to keep repeating it — the esteemed Institute of Medicine, American Nurses Association, American Public Health Association, American Academy of HIV Medicine, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Lymphoma Foundation of America, American Academy of HIV Medicine, and dozens of other medical organizations recognize marijuana's medical value.
What's more, President Obama's own statements on the campaign trail about marijuana's medical efficacy run counter to his new drug czar's statements yesterday.
We need to stop this in its tracks. Would you please speak out against this ridiculous, outdated argument:
1. Please use MPP's online action center to e-mail the president about the drug czar's statement.
2. Please call the drug czar's office at (202) 395-6700 to politely complain that we're still hearing this sort of nonsense.
We need to make sure the drug czar receives the message loud and clear that the anti-science Bush era is over.
Thank you,

P.S. As I've mentioned in previous alerts, a major philanthropist has committed to match the first $2.35 million that MPP can raise from the rest of the planet in 2009. This means that your donation today will be doubled.
P.P.S. You can opt out of receiving fundraising mentions in the e-mail alerts I send you in 2009 by visiting http://www.mpp.org/2009optoutpreference at your convenience.

Marijuana helps cancer patients with pain and eating.
I know first hand my former husband had cancer and that was only way to get him to eat.
Make them as comfortable as you can while they are with us.
Legalizing marijuana and allowing it to be grown in this country wouldn't increase its use, but it would take away one avenue of funding from the terrorist factions against whom our soldiers are currently fighting. (http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/lanl/funding_terror.pdf)
Rendered down to Oil, applied to either the body or inside on the gums, it offers the much needed pain relieving effects without the stoned-out feelings.
Naturally, MPP won't tell you about these studies because they are more interested in getting everyone to have the right to get high.
I've been really disappointed in the various medical marijuana communities lately. I have found them to stifle debate, hide facts just as much as the government rather than truly using science to relive pain and suffering.

With alcohol being legal, it amazes me that this is still an ongoing issue. Why not legalize it with certain restrictions such as age, and not driving while using, just like alcohol. The benifits of doing such, would certainly outweight any negatives there may be.
NOW if you live in certain states you can obtain a liscence for medical use, I think it's about $150 in MI.
Not when their rational and efforts support such policies as this:
"If we can charge $7 for a pack of cigarettes, imagine how much we could charge for a pack of joints!"
This line of reasoning is damaging and an intrusion of my rights which the MPP is selling away without my permission.
Your pack of joints would never even approach $20 but, more along the lines of $200. It also gives away my rights to grow for myself as the government would surely mandate that ALL Marijuana be certified and taxes collected.
I've been fighting this line of thought for a long time and unfortunately I'm losing the battle.
A $250 per year agricultural tax stamp, which allows the holder to grow a certain number of plants per year is the only way to combat this encroachment on individual rights.
Once you go down this prepackaged, federally taxed road, nobody but certified growers will be allowed to manufacture Marijuana.
