There are MILLIONS of people who live with pain. Both chronic and acute. Our government has had a puritanical look on pain relief methods for years. From refusing to believe in the medical uses of marijuana to prosecuting patients for gettting and using LEGAL prescriptions.
Insurance companies have refused to cover pain mananagment services. Most recently, fibromyalgia sufferers were told that most insurance companies would not cover the new medication that is supposed to help them lead a more pain-free normal life. My insurance company refuses to cover Lidocaine patches. These are basically topical and deep muscle novacaine patches. They WILL cover Fentinyl patches, which are morphine patches.
We, those in chronic pain, deserve to lead normal lives. We deserve to be able to play with our children and go for a walk. We deserve to be as pain free as we possibly can be, and there are ways for that to happen. We need to stop stigmatizing people for needing narcotics to lead a semi-normal life. We need to stop torturing people because they have "unfixable" pain. Please, I, we, those in pain, need YOUR help.
Recently a bill, HR756, passed the House. Now, we need to get it through the Senate.
If you go to WWW.PAINFOUNDATION.ORG you can read the bill, get informataion, and contact your representative all on the same site.
Please also visit WWW.WHITEHOUSE.GOV/CONTACT and tell the president to support this bill.
Then, please visit WWW.SICKOCURE.ORG and support HR 676 Single Payer Healthcare. You can read the bill, get some information, and contact your representives from that site as well.
Then, get your friends and families to visit the sites, sign the petitions and pass then on.
(not sure why it went from purple to blue...)

I'm not holding my breath. No one in the administration has come forward and ordered a stop to raids/arrests on medical marijuana users/clinics a was hinted earlier. That would have been a good first step. No, too much control/money in the drug war for either party to want it stopped.

I jsut found out my cervical vertabrae 3,4,5 are bad and they said it is why my balance is bad and I get tingling in my hands, I need to have those discs removed and have titanium bars and a plate inserted, if it keeps me from losing control and falling, great!
I have been accused, recently, by two different hospitals and 3 different doctors of being a "drug seeker".
I have a family member who takes methadone for pain relief, not because she's a recovering heroin addict. She's had trouble more than once getting her totally legal prescribed medication.
"Some people are dependent on pain meds in order to function normally, and there is nothing wrong with that." Jodie B. Yep. As Luvly Dotter said, my brother was arrested and convicted of a FELONY because he ran out of meds a few days early any used a dental prescription before his was officially up. What people don't understand is that the "addiction" they're talking about is actually a dependence. Ask Luvly Dotter, ask The Luvly Laura, ask my brother, ask Georgiana, ask... When you use a pain med long enough, it becomes less and less effective. You become dependent, and need higher doses. That's why people have to go on "drug holidays," change drugs, move to incredibly risky surgeries. My brother has even been in rehab a couple of times, just to make the drug re-effective.
Pot has been proven to help with both tension and depression. It's a "downer" in that it relaxes you, but it also causes a sense of uphoria. It can also help with weight gain if you are losing it do to illness.
