My Doctor Left Me

Good for you! A similar thing happened a couple of years ago to my daughter. She was sent to a nursing home for physical therapy and recovery. The staff doctor NEVER came to see her during the entire three months she spent there. He also cancelled prescriptions that the hospital doctor insisted on and ignored repeated pleas to see a physician due to severe abdominal pain.

The day she was transferred to another facility (in another state) she was rushed to the hospital to have her gall bladder removed as it was about to rupture. It also took close to six months to clear up the bladder infection she got when the nursing staff didn't replace her catheter for three months.

The doctor charged medicaid for visits.

The lawsuit is pending.

What a horrible doctor!! Definitely find yourself someone who remembers that being in medicine is about caring for people, not about making money.

Oh no, not again. Yes I can smell a lawsuit and you have ample grounds, but this STILL doesn't help your issues. I'm so sorry you are STILL going through this agony.

This is utterly appaling, and definitely should be reported.

I'd write him a letter and tell him why you're leaving him.

I would file a lawsuit. Doctors think they can get away with anything.

He didn't do anything illegal. He told me to go to the hospital for a blood draw the day after an ERCP procedure. While waiting to be called, I doubled over and started crying in pain, he told my husband to take me over to the ER. He was in the hospital, BTW, and tell them to contact him because he wanted a CT and pain managment. I waited in a room for 2 days before I saw him at 9pm. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink until I saw him, then I wasn't allowed to eat or drink after I saw him because he was going to do another procedure on Monday to remove the stint he'd put in my pancreas.
After the procedure he left and I haven't seen him since.

How awful! I would definitely get a different doctor!

OMG, that is horrible, i feel badly for you. Hope you get to a new doc soon.

I am sorry you had to go thru this. But was probbly not the Doc. falt. They usurallt leave standing orders. That after 4to 6 hours his patients can have water and after 12 hours they can have a clear liquid diet. Some nurse just didn't read his special instructions. But the hospital is still in big trouble.

Delores-He was IN the hospital when he told me to go to the ER. He didn't leave standing orders, I promise you. The problem was that I was there for a GI problem and they aren't allowed to give you anything until you see the DR. He didn't show up until 9pm the next day, and decided he'd be doing a procedure the next afternoon so I STILL couldn't eat or drink.

New appointment in two days, of course they will be two of the longest days of my life. Then, there's the lost time with the other DR, and all the tests yet to be done.

Really? What happened to the medical charts? And what about all the nurses on staff? Something is fishy going on with this one.

A transcript of what I would be telling that doctor would have qualified this comment for deletion. You must have just recently started going to that doctor. No way that should such disgusting treatment be allowed.

My father died of cancer. While he was undergoing treatment, we wanted to meet with his doctor. Couldn't contact him; didn't return our messages. Except for the last one because it was so full of insults.

"You can't call the head of Orthopaedics a (insult deleted)."

"Well if he acts like a (insult deleted), I will call him a (insult deleted). We are paying him, so he is hired help. Tell that (insult deleted) that we demand a meeting with him. Don't leave out a word of our message!!!"

We had our meeting. His comment, "Please refrain from using such language to my staff" got extreme silence as the response.

"I'm open to suggestions for where and to whom to report this and him." In Jamaica, we have a board that looks into reports of professional misconduct, including behaviour you complained about. I'm sure that an equivalent body exists there also. Any hospital or Doctor will have that information.

You're right, I had been seeing him for about a week. I'd love to tell him what I think however, he left for a week.

Once I'm done figuring out what's wrong I fully intend to file complaints with every agency I can find against both him and the hospital. Then we will take all of my files to our attorney and see what can be done. Those files will include the diary I have unwittingly, and unintentionally kept on this site.
