Our Southern Sunrise Surprise

   We knew we were expecting some strong thunderstorms today, but as the sun rose up this morning, the sky took on a golden color.  It was so unusual that even the teen stopped his morning pre-school routine to alert us to look outside.

    I just had to get some pictures to show you.  This is how the sky looked as the sun started to rise................

 

 

 

 

Then it changed to a beautiful, but ominous golden beauty.................

The only time I get a little nervous is when the sky turns a greenish color. That's scary.

Yep...that weird green. We used to live where there was tornadoes a lot and that's what we used to always look for...that weird green.

Those photos are fantastic though of your skies Katie! Beautiful clouds. :)

Well, if we had sun, I guess our golden skies would be green now as we've just received notice that we're under a tornado watch. I tracked the storm and it's a biggie coming up from the gulf. I'll see ya'll tomorrow. I'm shutting down for the night.

Some of those look like mammatus clouds, which indicate strong storms in the area.  We don't see those out west.  And, I rarely saw them when I lived in Michigan.
