Yesterday we woke up and we had typical breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast, that sort of thing. Then we all got dressed and went to the ferry. The ferry takes you from Dauphin Island to the Fort Morgan area, and back again, at set times. We didn't really want to see Fort Morgan, but my brother wanted to ride the ferry really badly, so we went round trip (the sign says they charge walk-on passengers, as well as car passengers, but in reality, they only charged the people in the cars, and when we asked about paying, they said, "no car? no worries..."). While we were waiting for the ferry to arrive, I got a call from a good friend of mine from California... I told him we were going on a ferry, and he said, "You mean with wands and wings?" and I had to say, "No... like with a rudder, and places for cars... like a boat." We had a nice laugh, and I pictured myself floating across the water on a faerie! I must admit I was a bit green with seasickness, but I also got a horrendous sunburn (it started peeling on the spot) so between the two, I probably looked like a Christmas tree. I was trying to get some soda for my mom and I to calm our stomach (the carbonation always seems to help me when I'm on a boat), but the machine was sold out. A really sweet lady walked past and said, "Here, have my Pepsi. I haven't even opened it yet!" and we were like, "Oh, thank you so much, but really, it's okay..." and she said, "No, no, I insist! I have an ice chest full of them in my car on here, I'll just grab another!" It was really kind of her to just give us the Pepsi, but I'm thinking we must have looked ill! Haha. Also, I was wearing this lovely sparrow necklace that my best mate loaned me for the summer. Anyway, when I got home, I removed it to put aloe on, and found out I had a pale spot amidst the sunburn in the exact shape of the bird! It was horrible and embarrassing, but also very funny.
After the ferry trip was over (it took about an hour to get to Fort Morgan and back to Dauphin Island), we went home to eat lunch. As the others prepared to go to the beach, I decided to stay here and rest, because my knees were once again getting the better of me. They made it to the beach, and five minutes later, lightning was striking and they had to come back up from the beach... I'm glad I didn't go! Five minutes wouldn't have even gotten me beach side, since it's really hard for me to walk in the sand!
After it all, we decided to curl up and watch the movie Hairspray (I had brought a few movies in case of storms) after dinner, while the storms passed.
Then, when everyone went to bed, I prepared for my balcony reading time, which got interrupted by several phone calls, so I didn't finish a book yesterday. Plus, it was pouring rain, and the lightning was flashing red (I didn't get a picture of it, though... it wouldn't show up), so mostly I just watched nature for awhile.
Anyway, to keep you busy, here are the last of my Sunset photos from Saturday. Remember, these are all unedited photographs!

You can tell my camera was starting to die... when it starts to die, it switches to lower quality. This makes my pictures more grainy.

Sorry you got a sunburn & the odd necklace shape as well!
I love the photo with the beach grass. Stunning!
And a friend of mine, while we were working at a Renaissance Faire, got the best sunburn ever. Her bodice had moved, so that created different 'layers' of burn... and she'd had a sticker put on her, so when she took that off, it was another color... she looked very patchwork! ;)
