Lately I've been talking to my children about poetry, thanks to Mariana T. and Shedding Light. My children join me during the walks and read my haikus about them. One day Sistah Sunshine wrote her own haiku and I posted it. Now both of my children are inspired to write poetry. Here is my son's first attempt at rhyme for Mother's Day (written in a beautiful card with ribbons and drawings):
I hope your Mother's Day is filled with joy,
From your lovely little boy.
(c) 2009 Son-Shine
These two lines inspired me to visit my sick MIL with my family. We had not been to her house for almost three years, since her daughter moved in as a caretaker. To make a long story short, the daughter will not allow anyone in the house and those who visit risk serious harm. This wiley woman found a way to do it and we shared ten precious minutes with my MIL in her outdoor room. Nobody would keep my "lovely little boys" (hubby and son) from her love anymore!
Isn't poetry inspiring? Next post is my daugher's poem.
