It is illegal to set off your own fire works, but that does not stop my neighbors of any citizen of the town. The police and other law enforcement do nothing to people who have their own private shows. It's just one of those things about living in a small town. I'm honestly suprised none of my neighbors have blown themselves up yet, they're not people you want to trust with explosives if you get my drift.

All of these photos, however, are from the professional show that the city puts on. It was actually on July 5th since we were rained out on the 4th (that didn't stop my neighbors though. . . my suburb looked like a war was going on with all the smoke).

These are just a few of my favorites. There are many more if you scroll down to the box at the end of the essay.

A tripod is your friend when photographing fireworks.

This one has been nicknamed the radioactive spider. I have an overactive imagination.

It just wouldn't be summer without lots of fireworks!

I love the multi colored fireworks most, they're just so unique.

This one reminds me of something. . . I can't quite figure out right. Maybe someone who replies will figure it out for me.

This was part of the final set of fireworks for 2008. I hope you enjoyed the best summer holiday in my town!

The one you said reminds you of something reminds me of a mushroom, a bit. :)
I don't know whether to use the Night Scene setting or the Sports setting on my camera for fireworks. Or maybe neither. Seems I read somewhere to use Landscape. Night scene makes sense cause it's night. Sports makes sense cause they're moving fast.
In any case, I have never gotten a decent photo of fireworks. You have here.
I have a special setting on my camera specifically for fireworks, that's what these were taken on. High sensitivity setting would get decent results too.
