I've told you before about my dog. He's a gigantic Golden Retriever. He's sick again. Yesterday, I took him to the vet. He had 105 temp. He's got a staff infection all over his body. I took him out at 5am and he has now a bladder infection. His second bladder infection in a month. He also had an ear infection in the beginning of July and a bad leg we had operated on but it goes out easily. Now, the vet says he has allergies.
He's breaking the bank, but of more importance, he's suffering. I asked the vet if his unusual size means he's deformed in some way. Guess what? Yes!
He and I also agree, the dog is a tad nuerotic.
I asked what I've done wrong, and the vet said, "Not a thing. He's just a lemon of a dog."
He's as sweet as he's big, and I've got him on a special diet, he lives in the house with his own room, and we may have to put him down.
I can't sleep with worry.
He's cost us thousands, and he's still not healthy. He only stays healthy for a couple of weeks.

If this poor creature is suffering so, I say to put the sad fellow out of his misery.
I hate to say that, because I love animals so much..
But, I hate to see any creature go through so much pain.
Just love your 4 pawed friend all you can...
With what I know of your situation, I think as much as I would cry my heart out, I think I would probably put him down. But, I can't say for sure what I would do, b/c I'm not in the situation.
Kerrell,
That's it! New vet! Thanks!
Oh hey all my Senior Foster Dog Maggie Got Adotped Saturday
There has to be something that can be done for recurring bladder infections...what's the underlying cause of them?
And antbiotics usually clear up staph, eventually.
BTW, what caused the outbreak of staph all over his body?
Brown or very dark by chance? Prostate problems or anemia accompanying this?
I would talk to your vet about a steroid treatment to subdue the immune system a bit.It sounds counter productive but if antibiotics aren't working too well... Is he being treated for hypothyroidism? It sounds like he could be getting the staff infections from inhaling pollen or something else that is airborne if they are occurring that frequently. Based on many of the symptoms you've described it sounds as if his body is destroying itself. He was probably fine when you got him but has succumbed to the side effects of a vaccine somewhere along the line.
Just a thought. Hope all goes well.
