He started acting fussy. He stayed right by us and was unually clingly. He's a big male golden retriever, but Monday night my daughter noticed he was shaking. Then, my husband went to pet his head and he cried. His ear was full of blood. His eardrum had burst and the infection is near his brain. I've had him to the hospital and they just released him. He's to stay in and goes back in three weeks for a check up. They have to put him out again to recheck his ear. It's strange because he is so clean and hardly goes out. So check your pet's ears for blood or foul smell. He could have died. He's in a lot of pain, but I also think he's playing the part a little if you know what I mean.

Baby him a little though. Golden retrievers are such sweet babies.
Take care.

This is scary; I know my pets are family members.
I am also allergic to fleas - my doctor has to give me anti itch cream and an allergy perscription - it got so bad last year I thought I was going to have to put flea collars around my ankles!!! (Doc said that wasn't a good idea).
So glad you caught this in time - poor baby, in so much pain and not able to tell you.
I hope he is all better soon.
