85% of dogs in shelters that don't get adopted are because they are black. I just went to the pound to adopt a dog. She handy me a three pound black puppy. I wasn't that interested. I went to the back and found all kinds of puppies blond, red, black, etc. I almost took a yellow lab, but realized I had gone there to get a small doggie to go with my moose puppy of 112 pounds. They had no small breed puppies save the black one.
I spent two hours there. It was so hard to chose. They are all so precious and eager to go home. Anyway, I told her I never had a black dog and prefered the tan ones. Finally, she told me how the little black one almost died. It was the runt of seven pups all who were there. She was on the desk separated from the rest because of her health and size.
I finally couldn't leave so tiny a pup, and took the black. I don't post many pictures of her because she is black and it's hard to get an image of her beautiful face.
Anyway, that was March 27. One month later she is nine pounds bouncy, healthy, and yes, pesty.
The purpose of this article however, is to ask you to please adopt a black puppy. The news just said that most people like myself want a blond or tan dog. Most of the black ones go unadopted and are the ones put to sleep for no crime greater than being black.
Please, if you can, go save a black puppy!

Bruce and Maya are tan though, color is the last thing I look for in a pet, personality matter so much more
