Stephy in the kitchen!

Both of my kids love helping out in the kitchen!  Whether it's unloading the dishwasher, putting silverware away or helping with the meal!  Our kids started out at a very young age helping us in the kitchen and baking with me!

My daughter is 4 years old and right now she always wantes to help me make lunch and dinner.  She sets the table for me each night, complete with plates, cups, silverware and napkins.  And she loves helping wash the table when we are done!

With my help, the kids make "gifts in a jar" for friends and relatives for Christmas every year!  They have a blast making them and people love getting them.  I always have to buy extra ingredients though because the kids eat as much as they put into the jars!

I have always enjoyed having the kids help me bake cookies, cakes and cupcakes since they were about 1 1/2 years old!  Sure, they make a mess but it's worth it to me!  Those are times that are very special and they grow so fast.

Of course when they were younger their helping ability was rather limited.  Now that they are older, they can help with so much more and they think it's wonderful!

Just last week my daughter helped cut up olives for our taco omlette breakfast!  She did such a wonderful job and was so careful!  She cut up an entire can and wanted us to open her another one!

They always want to help out when they are little, they feel a sense of accomplishment and love the praise. It's when they get older that it gets tougher! Hopefully that won't happen with you though. ;-)

It's so great to have the kids be a part of the cooking and setting up for meals. It gives them a great feeling, and I've found that they're more likely to sit and eat a good meal if they've had a hand in preparing it.

She looks like she was a great little helper. My 6 yr old son also loves to help in the kitchen. I tend to not let him much though. I really need to work on that.

Love it!!!! Letting kids help can be difficult (My three oldest all want to help at the same time-so we take turns) but it's so good for them! Great photo essay.
