I found list news listing just now: Dogs Burned May Be Part Of Satanic Ritual In Fayette Co.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
"Grindstone Fire Chief Rich Lenk told Channel 11 someone piled up a bunch of tires and lit them on fire. Above the burning tires were three dogs, including an 80-pound German shepherd mix, hanging from the trees.
"Humane officers found satanic symbols near the fire. "
Oh geeze. That's horrible! I suppose it's too much to hope that those poor animals were dead before they were hung above the fire. This is the kind of story that keeps me up at night. The lack of compassion is appalling.
I don't know about the Satanic aspect. People assure me it does happen and it is, indeed, present in Western Pennsylvania, but I have trouble believing it. But then I'd probably end up dead if I happened across something like that. I'd just go charging in and try to save the animals.

Sheila: Yes, I agree :(
Donna: I honestly don't know what I would do. I hope I never have to find out, because it would probably involve some kind of violence.
Lora: Damn! That's really something. Pentagrams don't necessarily indicate Satanic rituals, but the chickens sound like something bad was happening. I don't really know that much about it. Good witches (Wicca) use pentagrams, but they believe that whatever they do comes back to them times 9 (or some number), and those I've met are very nice people. As for welcoming me, no I don't think they would, but if I witnessed animals being tortured, I would HAVE to do something.
Maggie: Yes, that's awful, but moreso for the children. At least the dogs died quickly, not slowly roasting over a fire! :(
I hope they get caught ......
Penni: I agree with you. I think these people need to be locked up where they can't hurt anyone.
A few weeks ago, there was a case in Memphis where someone had set a dog on fire WHILE SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH!!!!! The new's clips smudged out the burnt spot in the yard, but you could just visualize the horror and pain this poor animal went though.
This was all because a woman was mad at her cheating boyfriend. It was his 'other' girlfriends dog.
I don't understand what people get out of hurting poor defenseless animals.
A lot of times hurting animals is just a stepping stone before they start hurting/torturing people. Often it will start in childhood.
Scare what this world is becoming.
Personally, I would be more willing to bet money on a Wiccan/Neopagan doing this than a Satanist. They are much more common than true Satanists, and they are not required to adhere to the Rule of Threes (the belief that whatever they do comes back to them three times). Some Wiccans believe that they can do whatever they want so long as nobody is harmed, and some believe that any action is right as long as they feel that it is right (e.g., their conscience). Further, the "pentacle," as they call it, is a five pointed star with a circle around it. If I'm not mistaken, that is the symbol found near those poor dogs.
Lots of groups that have ill purposes steal the pentacle and use it as a bad symbol, but people also steal the cross and use it for ill purposes as well. . . . that does not make either symbol evil.
More than likely it was a group of people who are mentally ill in some way shape or form, and just decided to use the symbols for shock value, probably having no real understanding of what the symbols mean.
And as for "true" Satanists being less numerous than Wiccans/Neopagans. .. you're wrong about that too. . .because the question becomes how are we defining satantist. .. are we saying the Anton Le Vay Church of Satan Satanists, the Church of Set, or your run of the mill, what many call "anti-christian Satanists" all of which are very different. The later being prone to acts such as these.
But with that being said to the issue at hand. . .
I say find the people and subject them to a worse death that of the poor dogs. I have zero tolerance for animal abusers.
I also think it was one or more mentally sick people, who should be considered a danger not just to animals, but to every human they come into contact with. It's hard to imagine the depth of perversion that would allow someone to do something like that. I sure wouldn't want to meet them.
This is why I mention the things I did. With such a loose moral code as the Rede, or the Rule of Threes, or the "Code of Feelings," it is very easy to slip a few feet down the slope to such horrible statements or deeds. Granted, what happened to those dogs is barbaric and unconscionable, but no dog's death will ever justify the same treatment to a human. I ask the question, if a Wiccan that is very probably a fine member of society would advocate brutality against a human, how far down the slope does a Wiccan need to slide to carry out brutality against a dog?
