I want to pledge allegiance to a flag
Where there's hope all can have
No matter if they're rich or poor
In a land of hope with open doors
Where race or gender cannot disclaim
The right you have to make a name
The right to be the right to change
The right to think of who I am
The right to dream for each woman and man
I want to feel justice in my soul
Because of laws where truth is known
Where freedom rings a sweet sweet song
Without restrictions for minor wrongs
And if they're wrongs please give true facts
Instead of just fines and punishments
For our youth need not their life ruined
By an indiscretion they thought just play
So their tomorrow may rejoice from come what may
The dream of an America in my soul
Is tarnished beyond belief by justice cold
Only tyrants are so bold in restrictions
In trying to govern each facet with division
That has created a purpose for social strife
As the rich can buy repreived revisions
And our jails fill with poor like attrition
Of a flag that's bleeding with the tears
Of those who want to still pledge allegiance
My country tis of thee a land of misery
This I sing for injustice that brings
Profiling just by the color of your skin
Attorneys needed just to save your skin
If you can't pay then there's no chance to win
Let injustice ring and let the shame be written
For our justice has forgotten the Constitution
This is our collective shame to let this happem
This is our collective shame to let this happem

Each week day morning I with my little ones pledge to the flag and I tell them stories of what kind of country they should work to build...one where color, gender or religion should not matter...where a person is allowed to have their own private thoughts...where those that have should be care takers for those that have nothing. By example, William, we can change the world. Light your candle, William, I am beside you.
On a critical note, I thought this piece had a lot of passion and energy, and that came through loudly, on an important topic worthy of expression and discussion.
In the first Stanza, I think you misuse the word disclaim. Disclaim means to give up, to renounce a right, not to have it stripped from you.
In Stanza 2 I think you lose a little steam by virtue of the fact that you are being very vague. "Minor wrongs," "explore life in an alternative way," aren't very clear to me. Are you referring to underage drinking? Smoking pot? Lighting cats on fire on Halloween? Worse? The lack of focus here deflates your impact for me.
Finally, I think comparing the US unfavorably with the Nazi's is a bit hyperbolic. Even if you can find a snippet of policy that out of context seem to favor Hitler's Germany, the overarching weight of evil that Nazism represents makes this comparison scream out at you, and takes away from your otherwise fine piece.
Our country has never reached the standards that you describe here but they are certainly goals worth striving for. Maybe one day we will come closer to achieving them.
Despite, the problems we face, I am still proud to be an American! And God Bless our soldiers!
gov'ment in this day and age????
Many countries need this and not only the US.
I've this feeling that your country is being more and more run by a central govt. I think that a basic rule for good governance is minimum governmet. Each State should govern itself except for a few nationwide activities.
The US was founded on awesome ideals and I think there are many people who still want those ideals to be achieved.
