This morning, Buddy is still with us, hanging on the apex. Could go in either way. So without more to do than I have done, I want to share with you an awesome time I had with Buddy last March of this year.
To give a bit of history or herstory as how our vacation came about. I had fought the government for three years for disability payments from Soc. Sec. An accident with a horse had put me out of commission in various ways, that do not show immediately, until you get to know me. The fight had to do with that, and the fact that I was a Smith College Graduate, and this was probably a first in the U.S. as the school is known for over achievement and wealthy families. I am not one of them. When I get sick, I do not have a trust fund, nor a family to buffer between me and reality.
However in Dec. of 2006, I won my case in court. In Feb I received back payment for the years between then and when I had first applied. So first I bought a truck. You have seen my pictures. I love that truck. Next, I asked a friend who I knew was having winter money problems, if she could clean my house for good money while Buddy and I go on a three day vacation to a hotel. The two other dogs stayed at the house while Buddy and I headed to the Airport Sheridan.
For three days we lounged in heat we didn't have to work daily for (no wood stove) I had hot water baths...Ahhhh. We stocked up on food, and I would order chick fingers from the kitchen. We shared. We watched TV. Something else we cannot afford at home due to the need for a satellite. It was grand. We went outside twice a day and played in the snow in copse of trees. It was soooo cold. However, lots of fun.
That is a memory I will hold dear in my heart. No matter how this day goes or days with or without him, I will always remember out lush vacation for three days at the Sheraton.
Buddy is not doing well. He has had chicken broth, water and a weak solution of water and red rose tea. My friend has just shown up, and I think they might make it to the outside, so a bit of sunshine can add to his health regiment. Meanwhile, whenever I pass by a mirror I am horrified by my appearance. If someone saw me and Buddy side by side, Buddy would definitely win by a margin as to who of the two of us will survive this.
We love everyone of you. Are grateful beyond bounds. And we feel your prayers and love.
