You walked with me,
Wobbly knees and unsure balance
Taking my first steps across the room.
You walked with me,
Up the steps and down the hall
Greeted my teacher, hung my backpack on the wall.
You walked with me,
The aisle paved with rose petals,
Kissed my check as you lifted the veil.
I walked with you,
As you held his tiny hand
Taking him on his first fishing trip.
I walked with you,
As time slipped away
Leaving little to decide, appreciating each and every day.
I walked with you,
Our last day
Placed a rose for you as I whispered your name.
