Old Superman plays Vandal Savage

Last night Smallville was great bringing to the screen another person from the comics. This one a villan form the All-Star comics in the 1940's and newer. Although they never used his real name in the show - the good doctor played by "Lois and Clark" superman Dean Cain was none other than the imortal Vandal Savage! He relates to Lex the same story he has told Superheroes as to why they can't kill him and that he's not really such a bad guy - its just living that long the does things to people.

If I remember, he got his powers as a caveman who was almost hit by a , ahh you got it...he's the first of the meteor freaks... Could a piece of "K" gone back in time?

I had heard his character had similarities to Savage, but wasn't aware that was who he was really portraying with the same origin story and all.

Nice. I like the show better when their stories revolve around the mythos and advance the storyline of the show more towards its "inevitable" destiny.

I've not read where he was Savage - but some of the stuff he was telling Lex was right from some of the comics stories - and his origins fit Smallville. I can't see them creating another character, when they already have one.
