WHERE IS THE UNITED STATES HEADED?
Fascism is: A system of government characterized by rigid one-party dictatorship, forcible suppression of opposition, private economic enterprise under centralized governmental control, belligerent nationalism, racism, and militarism, etc.
Socialism is: Any of various theories or systems of the ownership and operation of the means of production and distribution by society or the community rather than private individuals, with all members of society or the community sharing in the work and the products.
( It is the stage of society, in Marxist doctrine, coming between the capitalist sage and the communist stage.)
Communism is: Any economic theory or system based on the ownership of all property by the community as a whole. A hypothetical stage of socialism to be characterized by a classless and stateless society and the equal distribution of economic goods and to be achieved by revolutionary and dictatorial, rather than gradualist means. A form of government professing to be working toward this stage by means of state planning and control of the economy, a one party political structure, and an emphasis on the requirements of the state rather than on individual liberties.
Those definitions came right out of Webster's dictionary.
Obama, like Hitler and Castro promised us CHANGE. I think we are discovering what he meant. I hope the American Public soon learns that you don't elect a leader who promises Change without saying what that Change will be.
Remember these words? The United States is the Greatest Country in the World, Help Me to Change it.
That is one campaign promise he has kept. Where are we now? We leaning more toward Fascism at this point but Socialism is not much different.
We now have government involved in the Auto industry as well as the Banking industry, including savings and loan. What is next? Government has a lot of money in the renewable energy field.
It is not all on Obama, Bush started the "stimulus and bail out idea" Obama just expanded it.
Since this fiasco was started in a Republican administration and is going forward in a Democratic administration we must look beyond party partisanship.
What do we know about Obama? He came out of nowhere as a candidate. He had no resume and no experience. He never finished his term in State government before he became a Senator. He barely got started as a Senator when he ran for President. He suddenly had vast amounts of money for the campaign when a novice would normally not have that kind of backing.
He is a fantastic speaker (as long as the teleprompter is working) and will mesmerize a crowd. I heard him without a teleprompter and he sounded like a person who had no idea what to say.
He did meet with the CFR and other One World doctrine organizations. That leads one to believe that he is a One World enthusiast or NeoCons. That then is something he has in common with the Bush form of Republicanism as well as a good number of Democrats.
Therein is the clue. All or most of the Council of Foreign Relations, the Bilderberg Group, and the Rockefellers and the Trilateral Commission are One Worlders. It explains why Obama had unlimited financial support. I noticed his funds increased a lot after he met with the CFR.
Tinfoil hat time for some of you but this is serious.
Obama has done absolutely nothing about the many powers Bush assumed by Executive Order or by bills passed by a NeoCon legislature. Therefore he has more power than any president in history. He can monitor our correspondence and conversations on any telephone, put us on a no fly list, arrest anyone as a potential terrorist. Suspend Posse Comates, and even declare war.
One can not lay all of this on Obama or Bush. It took a majority of Congress' NeoCon Representatives and Senators to pull it all off.
So the question is only ---- Which are we headed toward Fascism or Socialism?
Whichever, you can bet there is there is some group controlling what Obama is doing. Maybe it is the Idea of a New World Order as introduced by George HW Bush in his inaugural address. If that is the case the President of the United Nations will be the President of the World, including the United States and we will no longer have any rights except to serve the government.

What he was saying was "help me to make it a BETTER nation."
That is not what he said in the articles a have read.
Very well written. It is the way I see it.
Thanks Candy, looks as though we are kind of alone.
Col. George, I'm disappointed. You know that line quoted is incomplete. Can you post the rest of it, so that it truly reflects what he was saying in a larger text?
Why don't you complete the quote then.
Trilateral Commission? I thought THAT bogey-man disappeared in the '60s.
First of all I have heard the word teleprompter about enough. Reagan I believe was one of the first to use one and they called him the Great communicator. He used a teleprompter so get over it.
Second the references to Hitler and any modern president whether it is bush or obama I find insultative to our intelligence.
I truly expected better of you than this drivel Colonel
FYI Hitler and Castro ran on a Change platform without saying what the Change would be. Sound familiar?
Oh and a great communicator does not need a teleprompter.
George, have you noticed that any comment that Obama supporters disagree with is "drivel". What ever happened to the days when we could "agree to disagree" without insulting someone?
Randy....
All Liberals expect to have everything their own way........
Randy, The strange this is, This is not an anti-Obama piece as much as it is an anti Neo Con One Worlder piece.
Randy wrote: "What ever happened to the days when we could "agree to disagree" without insulting someone?"
When were those days, Randy? I've had an eye on politics for some twenty years, and I've read quite a bit of the history of politics, and people have ALWAYS been pretty incapable of agreeing to disagree without being insulting.
Case in point: I seem to recall a number of times over the past few years that insulting words flew from your mouth regarding other people's political positions and stances; but maybe that is just here on Gather.
Col. - When it comes to politics and government, there is always something alarming for people to wag their tongues and shake their fingers at. Obama was trying to keep the automakers from going under and to keep the economy from tanking because of Wall Street, all because middle and lower income Americans would suffer the most if those things happened. Obama's efforts in these realms might not mean anything to you, but to many Americans these actions come across as trying to help the country rather than standing idly by and laugh at the plights.
"agree to disagree" is an oxymoron. I don't know why people have to be insulting with their disagreements but I notice it more when someone questions Mr. Obama's leadership in any way.
This article questions the New World Order that Bush Sr. introduced in hid inagural speach and every president plus most of congress has worked to implement.
One World Government will not work and in itself is an exercise in theorotical thinking with no foundation in fact or possability. That is what this article is all about. Mentioning that Obama is just another pusher toward that end seems to rile some folks a bit.
Seems to me I've heard that term "New World Order" before.
Bill, you don't fight fire with a blow torch and you don't throw money at something that does not work when you are yourself broke.
Obama took exactly the wrong aproach. GM Should have gone broke or sold. That is business. Those banks and lending institutions should have gone broke. That is also business. Both of those industries made their own mistakes and should never have been "bailed out".
This is a Republic not a Socialist nation where government has a vested interest in business. Every thing he has done in that wise has only gone to weaken the dollar. Obama is making Bush look like a novice when it comes to spending money we just do not have.
Col. - "I don't know why people have to be insulting with their disagreements but I notice it more when someone questions Mr. Obama's leadership in any way."
Perhaps my memory is too long, but I remember significantly more insults being cast about whenever anyone questioned 43's leadership.
When it comes to discussion about "New World Orderism" I find the topic slippery and difficult; mostly because so many different views, ideas and fears have been spread regarding what it is and what it will do. If such a move will benefit the lives of every human, then I would be for it; but if it's a move towards opression, supression and abuse of humans, then I would be against it.
Col. - Just because we are not Socialist does not mean that our government has no vested interest in the nation's businesses. One of the defined roles of our government is to protect "The People" (civilians and citizens); and to that extent, our government definitely has, and should have, an interest in America's businesses.
As far as both of those businesses having made their own mistakes, the mistakes were obviously made by the executives and managers of those businesses and not by the workers who make up the bulk of those companies employment roles, nor the investors in those companies; yet it is the workers and investors who paid the highest price for these businesses failing, while the executives and managers felt virtually no pain thanks to having amassed significant personal fortunes while they were ruining the companies.
This information may not mean anything to you personally, but then that is the difference between many people; that some DO care about the misery inflicted by those in power on their fellow Americans. I am one of these latter.
Oh I didn't say the govrnment shoud have no interest. I said vested interest which means ownership.
I care about the workers and the supplyers a great deal. I notice that in spite of the bail out and buy out thousands are being laid off now. Government will not stop that at all.
That was the reason on why I didn't vote for him. His idea of better sure wasn't mine.
We've been lurching towards this mess for decades Colonel, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Obama has for sure gone further and faster than any of the past presidents though. America may have wanted change from the Repubs but I do wonder if this is the change they wanted.
It started in ernest with Bush Sr. and has progressed through the last few years. Like a snowball going down hill it keeps getting bigger and going faster. The Obama administration is just a progression of a program the Neo Cons have and they are in control right now.
Not Fascism. The previous administration fits that definition much more than the current one.
Not Socialism. Nothing the current administration is doing amounts to creating a Socialist country or nation.
Not Communism. Nothing the current administration is doingcomes even close to a Communist government.
Obama HAS TO communicate with the Bilderbergers and the One World Order folks. Those people hold and control too many of the vital strings in our world's economies and nationalities for him to jilt; but to say he is one of them just because he has met with them is too far a stretch. When he starts promoting their agenda from the POTUS podium (as 43 did) then I'll give the idea some credence.
As for all the campaign money, our country was at the end of one of the most divisive presidencies ever. A person does not need to resort to conspiracy science to understand that THE PEOPLE wanted a HUGE change from what they had, and that they were not interested or willing to take any chances with the party that brought us 43.
Obama is a fantastic speaker, a very charismatic thinker, a person with an impressive academic pedigree, and he continues to present himself as a pragmatic leader.
I am quite happy with all that he has been able to accomplish in only his first SIX MONTHS as POTUS.
I have heard him speaking without a prepared speach. Way too many uh s and ahs he sounds and speaks as though he has no idea.
No Fascism? No Socialism? Where have you been? Government ownership of finance institutions and auto industry is straight out of their play book.
PART ownership does not equal control, Col., just as regulation does not equal control or ownership.
For example: No one in the Obama administration oversees hiring and firing, or the purchase of materials, or creates and executes manufacturing plans and designs: whereas in the old U.S.S.R. or Cuba, there actually were/are political officers who oversee and dictate every aspect of companies endeavors.
Part Ownership Bill. 60% is hardly part. Obama forced the CEO of GM to resign. Yes there is a political appointee to oversee GM.
Sparky, that is an interesting thing. Statism
Bill you are talking about Communism. We are not there yet.
Bill, "Obama is a fantastic speaker, a very charismatic thinker, a person with an impressive academic pedigree, and he continues to present himself as a pragmatic leader."
... and no experience. This is going to be the most expensive on the job training program in the history of the world.
And he also does not have a sweaty upper lip like Al Franken.....
Col. - It is my understanding that the 60% stake in GM that the government holds was handed over with some caveats that keep the government from actually exercising any control through the possession of those shares.
Second: Obama did not "force" the GM CEO to resign. GM could have kept the CEO if they had wanted to, so long as they decided not to take any money from the government.
and Third: The government did not "take over" GM. GM came asking for money, and GM accepted the stipulations that came along with being given the money. Government soldiers did not march in and seize the company from its owners; and those ARE the tactics used historically by socialist, communist and fascist governments.
Randy - I understand that high intelligence, extensive education and years of working as, and with, many community groups doesn't matter to some people, but luckily Obama does not run the country all by himself; nor does he have to. He has fully surrounded himself with people well experienced in government.
Personally, I prefer this president that has less experience, over the president we previously had, who apparently came with plenty of government experience to suit the tastes of people who share your view. For all his experience, 43 and his crew ran this country into the ground.
Dumb dee dumb dumb DUMB !!!
Thank you Peter that is exactly what I thought you would say.
Thanks for the post
what?
Eh?
Keith, there is no doubt that George has a license. It is poetic, but a license none the less. It is not quite "flat earth" politics, but it is, more or less, the politics of less is more.
Of course, prognostication about government policy is fun, more or less, and you never have to be right about anything, ever, under even the best of circumstances. George has the same problem that most of the remaining Republicans have. He thinks that cutting off his nose will improve the way his face looks and his enjoyment of Roses, if he ever bothers to stop and appreciate them.
Keith, Of course the world is flat and it is also square. Haven't you ever heard of the four corners of the earth?
I have several licenses but none for poetry.
Hide and watch, better yet go back to Bush Sr. and look what has taken place. I see a progression of more and more power going to the executive branch as the years went by. Each sucessive president has assumed more and more. Why? If you don't see the patern you are mentally a blind as a bat.
BTW I am not a Republican, I'm a Ron Paul Republican.
In my case cutting off my nose just might improve my aperance, nothing else has done it.
Uh,uh uh!
Very astute Spencer, what does it mean in english?
Sorry, I miss spoke. Its not translatable to English.
Oh darn Spencer. Maybe when China forcloses on us it will be translatable into Chinaeese.
... i thought socialism was already here ????
Well c.l. it does have a good foot hold.
The American public resoundingly rejecting Republicans in the last election does NOT constitute "rigid one-party dictatorship" or "forcible suppression of opposition." I haven't heard anything about the 2010 or 2012 elections being canceled, have you?
You're the boy who cried fascism.
Yes, plenty of Bush haters freaked out in the same way. And now it's the Obama haters' turn.
I do not like Obama, but I hate no one. We are capitalists, but we will take care of socialism in 2012. Well, I gotta go back to the ice age.
Eric, please go back and read it again. This administration is just a continuation of what started in this country several elections back.
Carol, It is just possable we will cut his program short in 2010.
You forgot about how he got to be senator or was that a mighty oak grown from an ACORN. It's socialism and will soon be communism.
He has gotten a lot of help from ACORN hasn't he. They are being paid back with fat government contracts to do the censis.
It will not make it to Communism but it certianly will to full blown Socialism if something is not done soon.
Let me correct that - It will make it to full blown Fascism soon and then Socialism will follow.
Col George says:
"He had no resume and no experience."
You know, I am always willing to gleen some insight from right wing politics because I tend to believe that conservatives generally have a sensible understanding of the economy (just as liberals do) which means that a viable solution often comes from conservative AND liberal thinking.
But when you begin your so-called article with this ridiculous nugget, I can't even continue reading without reminding you that Obama IS more educated academically and WAS more educated academically than the last 6 presidents.
Now, let me keep reading.....
He has no experience in government to speak of. Educated idiots are a dime a dozen, not that I am calling him an idiot. Just pointing out that yes he has a doctorate but no practical experience. i.e. a bad resume.
I think you are wrong about the last 6 presidents too BTW. That I would have to check. I think at least one was also an attorney.
Okay, I read the rest.........
Boring. I am more concerned that I will be struck by lightning.
You have your head in a cloud in your zeal for Obama. Open your eyes and try to understand. This is not a slam Obama piece it is a slam Neo Con, One World piece. He is a One Worlder.
If the American don't take there heads out of where ever. It is going to be to late to stop this socialism. If he gets it in to place. It is going to be hard to stop him. Then it will be bad for the American people.
It's bad now but nothing to what would happen in a Socialist or Facist society. Neither one has ever worked out in history and there is no reason to think one here would be any different.
Col. Sweden is Socialist and they have one of the highest standards of living in the world.
Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government and a highly developed economy
That is HIGHLY socialized in it's governing policies! LOL
Does the government of Sweden control private enterprise?
Bush was a Fascist. Whatever direction the country heads in is better than the one it was on.
I disremember what it is called but there is another system in which the country is rulled by a committee of wealthy people. That was Bush. Obama in just another flunky in that progression or in leading to Fascism first and ultamately Socialism.
That's it Sparky, Thank you.
"WHERE IS THE UNITED STATES HEADED?"
Toward a record-breaking Republican upset in 2012......
A third party or the rejuvinated Republicans will have to take a large majority in 2010. 2012 will see a Republican or a third party in the White House.
Congress is riding a high speed train pushing health care reform. Once again change without really telling any of us how it will change. When asked how they will pay for it, they answered that they were not sure, but the change had to initiated anyway to ensure its "success". Obama says he will partially pay for it with cuts to Medicare and Medicaide. What most people don't realize is that they have already planned to cut most payments by 5 1/2%. How much more are they going to cripple benefits? They also say they will pay for it by fining companies who do not offer health insurance. Right now my company pays inexcess of $700 a month for family plans. Many many small businesses can't afford to take on this burden. And since when does the Federal Gov't have the right to mandate private business benefits. How are we going to pay for all of this? When are the egomaniacs in Washington going to realize that this is OUR money they are throwing around? And when are WE going to send a message to Washington that we are broke and can't afford more spending without a realistic plan? Please don't say 2012. We will not make it that long.
Obama's brand of health care reform is socalized medicine . That would eliminate Medicaid and Medicare so how is he going to pay for his health reform with what he saves by cutting those benefits? True the money now paid into Medicare would be part of it but a small part.
Fineing companys for not having health insurance? That will run a lot of small business out of business even a lot of small towns.
The "Brown Shirts" were Nazis, Keith.....
And they were more interested in Jews than Muslims.....
Ohhhhhhhh.....I am just SOOOOO insulted that someone would attack our MESSIAH! He is a god (didn't you know that?)...one that we can all worship when we kneel to pray facing Mecca! He makes tingles go up my other leg! SHAME on any of you who would pull me back to earth, I am just having too much fun to care, floating up here in my koolaid-filled world...SH-SH-SHAME!
It is not an attack on the MESSIAH Lezzy. It is just pointing out that he is only another lacky In a procssion of lackys serving a concept of One World Government. Something that is impossable in this time of history.
There are about a dozen different forms of government and they want all of them to become one? Not likely. The very idea of a One World Government flies in the face of reason.
OMG...then you mean our ~OOO~BAAA~MAAA~ is not going to be the next One World Govt Leader? I thought that's why he was starting out by being the prez of the US...so he could dance his way to becoming leader of the World...I am soooo sad now, this just makes me want to cry in my koolaid! After all that effort we made to get him into office, and now his career is in jeopardy! I have to call all our friends at the Census, er, I mean at ACORN and tell them the HORRIBLE news, so they can fix this pronto! He MUST be sustained, at all cost!
Lazzy, that may be his next goal. In a few years when the NAU is in place and merges with the EU he might just be figuring to be the head honcho of the whole bunch.
We can't vote them out because so many people vote for the incumbant when they should be voting acording to the record they have. If people would vote that way there would be a bigger turn-over and some good things would get done.
Money and the Media have taken over the control of who gets elected. It is time to wake up and really take a look at the candidates.
"They take over a business and then proceed to bust it out They take the money and slink off and the business dies. That is exactly the modus operandi blueprint the government is doing to America."
You know that is exactly what happened when our financial institutions blew up; except it was private industry that slinked off with the goods. The private sector head honchos created business and payout schemes that made them TONS of money for their private accounts; and when it all crumbled 43 gave them billions with no strings attached.
Is it not interesting that when Obama added strings (such as no more astronomical bonus programs, and a required a paper trail on bailout money expenditures) that the financial wizards suddenly don't want or need a dime?
The truth is that the financial wizards didn't want to save their businesses. They took as much money as they could, running the businesses into the ground; and they only stuck around after the businesses should have failed because the government was givng them more money that could be tapped and taken.
Those Wall Street companies were not practicing Capitalism. They were practicing pillaging.
You may be right Bill, would not suprise me a bit.
I don't think it is too late but something must be done soon.
Jim T. says:
"It really is sad Col. and I truly worry about this great nation of ours going down the tubes."
Yeah Jim, because the minute a Democrat is elected president, all hell breaks loose. What a joke. Do you guys even listen to your "end of the world" diatribe?
I consider myself objective and I would love for you to persuade me that the direction this country is taking is any more dangerous than the direction Bush took us.
You really need to study more Jared Diamond, David Halberstam, Howard Bloom.
You really are not very objective. You realize that you are the type to go marching on capital steps for something that is not the big picture. Where were you when we were invading Iraq. THAT is a big picture thing.
You might try READING the article Douglas. It is not about Democrats or Republicans. It is about a phylosophy called a New World Order. Commenly called One Worldism.
America does not have two major parties any more. There are three
A. Democrats
B. Republicans
C. Neo Cons or One Worlders This party is made up of both Democrats and Republicans the believe in a One World Government.
Right now and for the past 20 years or so the One Worlders have held power in our government. They have been working hard to eliminate the Constitution and change our government to something other than a Constitutional Republic.
Good job Col. Way to live in the last 20 years.
I guess I could be running around frantic thinking the world was going to end also if I only looked at the last 20 or 30 years instead of understanding how far society has come thanks to the civility shown by our great leaders, Republican, Democrat, or even NeoCons or Oneworlders as you so call them.
How old are you?
You debate like you are a 10 year old and your dad just told you that Obama is not an American.
You never address any REAL point, you just rant and rave about how WRONG other people are. Why don't you try and find something right about your country once in a while. Remember, you helped shape it.
If you don't look at what has happened and the way it progressed you can't see what will happen.
If someone throws a rock at you and refuse to acknowledge the past that the rock was thrown you might get hit by the rock instead of taking evasive action.
I worked directly for this country off and on for 43 years. In the last few it has changed and is no longer the country it used to be. I want my country back. I don't want to live under an Oligarchy, Fascist, or Socialist government. I like the Republic I served.
Jim this has nothing or little to do with Democrats. I'm an equal opportunity Bitcher. In this article I bitch about every administration all the way back to George HW Bush, et all.
Jim T says:
"You don't give a damn about the oppressed people of this world"
Yeah, okay, you want me to believe that you were thinking of the oppressed people in Iraq when we invaded?
I consider myself a very concerned individual when it comes to civilty and human rights all over the world and I can be objective about our military juntas in other countries, but I wasn't even thinking about the oppressed people. I would suggest you see Michael Moore's movie "F911" and see how much our government "cared" for the impoverished and oppressed Middle East.
Yes, he maybe extreme, but he provides some factual info.
Anyway, the divisiveness and partisanship is not indicative of the progress this country has made and if people like Col George keep screaming SOCIALISM, MARXISM, and LIBERALISM, and the other side keeps screaming COMMUNISM, TYRANNY, and CORPORATE TOTALITARIANISM, then enough people will beleive it.
Perception becomes reality.
This country is actually better than ever and only suffers from a lack of fiscal management.
No as a matter of fact I don't care about your idea of "repressed" people. They have their way of life and we have ours. What we think is opression may be their way of life. We try to force our standards on everyone, That is wrong. They don't need or want our interference.
It is people who keep watch on the politiciains and government that keep them more honest and don't let them get away with things. The problem the last few administrations has been that things have changed gradually until now the true agenda of those who want the United States to go is becomming aparent.
You may want a different form of government as a bleeding heart liberal but I don't' believe most of us want that. I am a Citizen of the United States, not of the World.
You say you want the US to rule the world with those statements Jum. Some 200+ years ago the colonies were being oppressed and they did sosmething about it. No other country came in and overthrew king George for us.
If they want to be free like us fine. They have the means to do it.
That's an interesting comment, considering that the French (1778), Spain (1779) and the Dutch (1780) helped us out quite a bit during our battle for Independence.
Not one of those countries invaded England and set us free. They helped with troops and money during the conflict.
That's true, Col. - and we didn't invade England and overthrow King George either. What we did was defeat his armies and representatives here on our continent; and then claim it as our own. king George continued to rule England.
To compare the situation which the Iraqi's had under Saddam, or the current situation in N. Korea, to our fight for independence is just plain non-sequitor. The political and social dynamics are just too VASTLY different.
Thanks Bill you proved my point.
The situation in Iraq is just the same. We invaded an innocent country and killed thousands just because we didn't like their dictator. They could have rebelled and gained their freedom without our help if they had wanted to do so.
"..the USA is afraid of the Chinese because frankly the Chinese owns America and our government is to blame for that."
If you give it a little longer of a think, I bet you'd see that our financial and industrialist capitalists have as much (or more) blame to take, for the Chinese owning so much of us.
When you think about it that is true Bill. What caused that balance of trade deficit? Our stupid government with their free trade agreements. If they put a tarriff on imports the debt could be paid or if they made them import an equal amount as they export.
The biggest addition in America is to money, status and a petty, pedestrian form of greed; not drugs, sex and civil liberties.
Regular Americans (those that live at our below the median income) are fully too busy earning enough money to cover their "daily living" expenses to put much time and effort into studying and responding to real world issues. Most "regular" people assuage their conscience over world events by donating to those charities that appeal to them; and by engaging in bitch sessions with their fellow community members.
I have to agree the biggest addiction is to money or rather the lust for money.
As far as your statement about Regular Americans: what you describe is a good system, why try to change it. It ain't broke so don't fix it.
Jim I think you must mean we HAD the greatest nation in the world. It has gone down hill fast the last few years since the Neo Cons have taken over. I'm not sure a government like we now have is all that great. We are loosing our rights as fast as the president and congress can pass bills. It started under Bush one and has snowballed to this present day.
A majority in Congress who believe their oath to uphold and protect the Constitution would do it Jim.
That is why I am part of the Campaign for Liberty.
I guess it depends on what part ot Uncle Sam Jim. The people or the Congress. The Congress is the one who needs the boot. We need to get rid of the Neo Cons and install Constitutionalists. (No I don't mean the political party)
It is an outgrowth of the Ron Paul campaign. "We are made up of people who still believe the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the land. We campaign to get people elected and to fight unconstitutional measures in congress.
campaignforliberty.com also there is a Camaign for Liberty group here on Gather.
