Earlier this year a dear friend passed away and for some reason the reading and dispensing of the will was postponed until recently.
I got a letter informing me that I had been named in the will to receive personal property from my friend. I contacted the attorney handling the will and was told where to go to receive my inheritance and when we got there, this is what I found my friend had left me ...

There are five beautiful horses on six acres of land, including a barn and all the aminites to care for them. You might want to look at the larger pictures to see how beautiful they really are.
The problem is my health will not permit me the luxury of caring for them properly.
There is a lot of paperwork involved with transferring the ownership of horses as I recently found out. They all have Certificates of Health and current shots from a reputable Equestrian Vet. They are very gentle and calm animals, do very well around small children and have been handled very well but they need someone who can give them the love and attention they deserve.
Two of them were once used as Tour Horses and have certification. I was wondering if anyone knows of an organization that I can donate them to? Maybe one who helps kids or the handicapped to experience things they normally wouldn't who could put them to use and provide proper care for them?
UPDATE - I checked out some of the places you all shared with me and have gotten a few responses. While The ones who contacted me cannot take all 5 horses due to economic situations two are willing to take one each, plus the tack, trailers, etc. and will pass the info on to other places who might be able to help. One is an equestrian center for kids with autisim and one for the blind. Hopefully by this next weekend they all can be placed. Thanks so much!
2nd UPDATE - All of the horses have been placed and will be going to serve the needs of children and adults affected by blindness, children of autisim, ADHD, who have terminal illnesses such as cancer and those who are retarded or mentally challenged because of things like Downs Syndrome.
Thanks to all your help these horses will get the love and attention they need and provide a service and mission of love for other folks.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your friends' passing. I understand your loss.
You are doing the right thing for the horses. I wish I could help with a home for them. I live in Michigan. We have three horses and I would want someone to love and care for them as we would if something were to happen to us.
So I wish you the best in your quest. I just know it will all work out.
Thank you so much for your comment on my "Bluegills" post. That was a nice surprise.
How right you are.
Debra, what a wonderful thing you are doing, not only for the children, but also for the horses. But, that's you, putting someone first - always.
I'm sorry for your loss.
