Many people around the way would have you believe I'm a simpleton, a loud mouthed lout with very little to say other than rhetoric filled with vitriolic name calling and personal attacks and smears. The truth is a wee bit more complicated, and if you are willing to observe my conduct over a period of time, rather than judging me by one or two encounters, it is very likely you will begin to recognize the ethical, logical, and the fair, even handed opinions I produce.
Sure, I'm willing to get down in the mud, but usually only after provocation. Mostly, I give what I get and respect those that respect me. If you'd rather engage in childish, irrational behavior, by all means, and I'll even join you in the fray. Fortunately for me I enjoy both forms of interaction. I'm willing to be civil and "debate" the "issues," and I'm also happy to trade third grade level witticisms. I'm equally adept at both games and have mastered the skills necessary to not only survive, but thrive in a wild, untamed environment.
Why do I bring all of this up?
Well, I'd like to have more gather friends, as the title of this article might cause you to infer. In pursuit of this cause, I have decided to take the unusual approach of writing an article and asking directly, "why can't we be friends?"
If you have no objectionable answer to that question-- by all means, click on the "Add As a Friend" link and request a "friend" connection.
Why do I desire more gather "friends?"
Well, I'd like to enlarge my readership, that's just how vain I am about my own abilities and opinions. I'm so self absorbed I actually believe I have something to say, and I'm willing to make a personal plea to one and all-- if YOU think I have something to say, please, click on the "Add As a Friend" link to be my gather "friend."
I don't send out mass eMail, I don't troll around groups looking for like minded individuals, in fact, during my three plus years as a member of gather, I've done very little to "promote" myself, much less directly asking for "friend" connections in such a public way.
If you'd like to join another group or two, I have the Boston Tea Party, concerned mostly with politics, and Just Writing and Reading, another "post anything" group. Join, one, join both, and let's have some fun.

I didn't know you had groups, so I'll join those. Otherwise I've happily been on your friends list for a while. :)
Yes! jJack is a great connection to have. His articles are well written, well reasearched, and very interesting, full of great info. and a different perspective, which is ussually the accurate one. It doesn't have to change your mind, but at least one would be able to make a choice, or decision, one way or the other with a topic.
Doesn't mean you'll agree with jJack's conclusions, but at the very least you'd know that his sources are the reliable ones, and that jJack didn't lie to you.
Plus! Sometimes he is the liveliest, and best constructed end of a debate. He is not a parroter of propaganda, nor does he settle for dishing out to others what is spoonfed to many, that being political talking points.
Give jJack a chance, and he may do a great job of keeping you, a little bit more informed, than the next guy. Being informed, even a little bit more is a good thing for everybody.
And he's witty, too!
So, do it! Take a chance! Rquest a friend connection to jJack.
How's that jJack?
aww shucks, you're makin' me blush Dorothy.... *chuckle*
so nice of you to say, so very nice.....
Didn't realize you had groups too. Cool beans.

You sound like good people to me. lol I'll be your friend.:)
J.Jack, I am sincere in my assessment that you seem like good people.:)
I'm for civil unions, if not "marriage" and believe homosexuals are entitled to all Constitutional protections.
Yes, being a Christian, I believe homosexuality is "wrong" but I believe in FREEDOM, and do not seek, in any way, to infringe the rights of anyone, including homosexuals.
If I become your friend and read your stuff, will you do the same?
Tough question, huh?
I will consider it.
Send me email if you have the answer.
What is your problem ?
Naw; just joking . Almost had you ready to don the third grade uniform. Man, I messed up I should have paused a little. Well maybe next time. Thanks for being honest .
Honesty is all I have left..... *chuckle*
