I give 10's too. I just think some people are starting to get hit by DB 1's too often and have chosen to nip it in the bud.

Jill, it was actually your article that inspired me (okay maybe that's an exaggeration) to write this article. I went to rate one of your articles and couldn't. Makes me do a double take! LOL!

I like to give people 10's I just think the people that turn it off are afraid of the 1's.

I think it was the article about it being my hubby's birthday that I didn't put ratings on. I just thought it wasn't necessary, and that would be the kind of article that the DB 1 jerks would thrive on, so why give them the satisfaction?

I figure I shouldn't allow ratings on any article of mine that has no creative content, e. g. a game or a family photo.

You are right, Jill. That's the one. I wanted to give a 10 to help give you a boost in points toward a gift for him. And anyone's birthday deserves at least a 10. But I do agree with you on the reasoning.

Cynthia, I don't know if the "RATER" gets points, but I was always under the impression that the higher the rate on an article, the higher the points accumulated for the publisher. But then I have also heard that only points are given for 10's and no other ratings. So, I really don't know. I like to rate 10's if I am going to comment. And sometimes, I don't know what to say, but I want to rate a 10 anyway just to help the person out.

Sometimes the article does not deserve a 10. I feel you should give it what it does deserve, otherwise, why rate them at all. If every one gets a 10 that would not be fair to the ones who deserve the 10.

I like to rate too and usually I will rate a 10 or not rate at all if I am not particularly impressed with the article.

Cynthia, I do think we get something for commenting, but I don't think on rating??? Anyone know on this one?? Or should you go ask the Gather Guides??
