My dream is to help my community gather the funds they need for a Gay community center, which part of would be geared to kids who are gay and struggling about it in general and with their parents. For kids that have been disowned by their parents, the community center would help fill out financial aid forms so that they could go to college. With the recent hate crime in California (which is what exactly the passing of Prop 8 was, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it), it is even more important now for LGBTQ and straight supporters to pull together in California communities and determine our next move. A LGBTQ community center is much needed where I live so that everyone has a safe and supportive place to go.

That being said...the one "material" vision I have is to one day open a hands-on children's museum geared for toddlers, preschool and Pre-K age groups. This is the one age group I have always been passionate about!
The only children's museums in our area are for older children...there is nothing to expand the minds of our younger children. I have witnessed that children learn quickly and benefit tremendously when they are active and involved, and having an affordable, fun, and exciting place to "play" and learn is just what we need in our area.
My dream has always been to try and see as much of the world as I can. I have two specific goals when it comes to travel, and I am not sure which one is more achievable. One is to visit every Continent. So far I have only been to North America and Europe, so I have a very long way to go with this dream.
The second travel goal I have is to visit every major art museum in Europe. I've been to quite a few, but nowhere near the number I'd like. In fact, I really need to determine just how many there are. I love art, and spending time in a museum is just about my favorite way to spend a day.
Of course, there are so many more goals I have with regard to traveling: to go around the world on a single journey, to see as many of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites as I can, to visit all the greatest beaches, etc.
One of my fondest travel goals was fulfilled a few years back: to see the Acropolis in Greece. The other two places that are top of my list: Pyramids and Great Wall.
My vision is to make a real difference in the lives of our elderly in nursing homes. I envision a world where compassionate care it first and foremost in the minds and hearts of Nursing home staff and the owners of those homes. I envision every employee receiving a decent wage for quality work, and always having ample staff to permit the care that they WANT to deliver. Many homes, particularly privately owned, for-profit facilities function on the principle that all they have to deliver is the state required minimum staff, and those numbers are sorely lacking. I envision a world where no elder has to die alone, that all nursing assistants and nurses be required to attend annual sensitivity training to help them empathize with their charges, and that each elder which enters a nursing facility can honestly state the facility staff is an extension of their own family.
I dream of a time when the voices of Kentucky women are heard and their thoughts explored via playwriting. Kentucky is an interesting place to live. The culture in some areas is for women to be very submissive and to hold back their dreams, desires and opinions. This is where playwriting comes into play (pun intended), once the women begin to write plays their world changes, they find their voice and express their thoughts on the subject they choose to explore via plays.
So far I've led playwriting workshops for Kentucky women and I've been blessed to have been awarded 2 grants to lead year-long seminars for Kentucky women. One of the requirements of the seminar is that they each pass on what they learn to other Kentucky women.
My own vision is to have my play LUMPs (which deals with breast cancer) to be produced in all 50 states and internationally. So far it has been produced in 5 states, only 45 to go!
I also hope that my life makes a difference to at least one person in this world. I've been blessed to have many second chances with regards to my health. I'm like a darn lucky cat with way more than 9 lives. Each time is a reminder to commit the time I have to smile, laugh and love those around me.
Thank you to all who participated.
