It is a bit challenging to review the book while not fully embracing the philosophy of cleansing. I certainly agree with the author that most of us are out of touch with our bodies and damaging our health through improper diet consisting of mainly process foods or fresh food treated with chemicals. That said, she failed to convince me to attempt a cleansing.
On the positive side, if you choose to follow her cleansing advice and give your body a min-retreat, the book is a fantastic resource. It is well written and easy to use. I did a get a bit confused about the alkaline water, but in general the plans and recipes are easy to understand. The one-day wonder cleanse for example sounded like the cleansing you would get at an expensive spa retreat. You start your day with hot lemon water. Breakfast is heavenly green juice or watermelon salad, lunch is a broth or salad and dinner is another broth or salad choice. A juicer is an essential tool in most recipes, but a good blender is an option.
In addition to the over 100 recipes and several different cleansing plans, Niemerow explains how stress impacts that body and total wellness. She looks are lifestyle choices including vegetarianism, meditation, yoga and exercise. There is even a section on homemade non-toxic cleaners.
The book contain testimonials so that you know that people actually survived the 5-7 cleansing program.
Overall, it was an interesting book, and if you are contemplating a healthier lifestyle it is a good resource.

The whole idea of trying to sell people on the idea that their intestines or bodies are dirty or worn because they have toxins in them just seems like another advertising ploy to sell books and products. All of us are literally full of sh*t, maybe we should try an visualize that the next time we listen to a politicians speech, but drinking lemon water is not going to change that! ;-)
