Is that what you are saying, I think - Michelle?
oops time for my eveinng orange. I just had some pepperoni because I was starving...
Curious if your diet would have an effect on these issues. I don't take any of those antacids or anything, as I normally don't have a problem unless I break my own no-carbs rule.
One final question... do sugars create a higher 'yeast' friendly and fungus environment in the body?

Does your book get into this level of detail or is it more preventative in nature; i.e., is it a home remedies type book or a "do this and not get there" type of book?
Just curious...
Kathryn asks:
I think this is a vast and largely unexplored area - and one that makes common sense. If only more people could eat fresh fruits and vegetables, they would be healthier.
Is that what you are saying, I think - Michelle?
Kathryn, fruits and vegetables are essential to great health. These are the primary foods our bodies were designed to eat. Yet, most people are clogging their bodies with packaged, prepared, and processed "foods" that barely resemble food at all. Our vehicles need good quality gasoline, oil, windshield washer fluid, etc. to operate efficiently and so we use them. But when it comes to our bodies, we expect our bodies to work perfectly on sub-par fuel: food additives, colors, bleaching agents, texturizers, trans fats, hydrogenated fats, and so on.
I've read another book on alkaline and acidic (spelling?) diet. I wonder if this is similar. Alkaline to start the day off then alternate to acidic, meat/orange juice no carbs, then carbs (alkaline) at night for sleeping better.
1) I have always wondered if having the odd ability to strip the plating from inexpensive jewelry is because of a high acidity level in my skin. I usually avoid simple carbohydrates as I don't feel as well when I eat these. Feel great when I eat mostly vegetables and lower-carbohydrate fruits. Orange juice by itself any time after dinner can make me feel sick, particularly if I try to lie down.

What were your inspirations behind studying the effects on pH levels in the human body? Did you just came upon "by mistake" with your own diet?
What is are pH levels and alkalines? I think I remember these terms from science class in high school, but it feels so long ago.
Your body needs to be slightly alkaline to be healthy
Imagine a tug of war--acid on one side and alkaline on the other side--neutral is in the middle. If you eat mainly acid foods, your body will be acidic. And that's exactly what most people do. Almost all foods in our Standard American Diet are ACIDIC! So, we need to rebalance quickly. You may also notice skyrocketing incidence of many diseases--in my opinion, they are linked to our acidic diet.
That's exactly what I'm talking about with jewelry. Since I tend to react to jewelry easily--some people do, others don't--I've come to the conclusion that the green or black color from jewelry is linked to acidity. You'll want to eat more alkaline foods to balance your blood.
What were your inspirations behind studying the effects on pH levels in the human body? Or did you just came upon it "by mistake" with your own diet?
I have found that many people's skin conditions completely clear up as long as they ensure that their body stays slightly alkaline. Blood nourishes all of our tissues and organs, if it becomes even slightly acidic, it can have damaging effects on anything in our body--skin, organs, tissues, joints, etc. I've seen psoriasis completely heal when I put people on an alkalizing diet, exactly like the one I describe in The Ultimate pH Solution.
I'm a big fan of tea with a little lemon. I don't suppose you discuss tea in "The Ultimate pH Solution", do you?
Drink lots of lemon water (between meals, not at meals). Watch your intake of sweets, meat, and other acidic foods. Since you're most likely eating more acidic food during the holidays rev up your intake of greens like salads, green drinks made with green powder, or supplement your diet with greens like chlorella--an excellent way to alkalize your body--or at least balance out some of the acid. Avoid soda like the plague!
I looked over some of your other articles and think this is compelling topic. I hate the idea of taking over-the-counter medicines and have a strong interest in learning more about alternative medicines. But I don't know where to start. What advice could you give to help a newbie like me get a head start in the right direction?
What are a few foods you would recommend staying from that we may all be surprised about?

I had a comment about Elizabeth and the cheap jewelry thing. I used to work in jewelry and cheap jewelry is not gold plated but some kind of thin, gold-colored metal over copper, for example. It comes off with any rubbing or water and is not made to last.
I do know some people who cannot wear any jewelry except gold and some people who cannot even wear gold jewelry, because they are allergic to all metal.
My gold rings even leave black on my rings after a while because they are dirty, even though they look perfectly fine. Jewelry stores have jewelry cleaners for real gold, for example.
I read that oranges and a lot of fruites become alkaline in the body, which is what makes them good. I try to limit my intake of cider and orange juice and prefer to eat or juice the real fruits since they have the living enzymes in them that the processed cider, even the best cider of 100 percent Florida orange juice (squeezed) has pasteurized out of them.
Foods can be tested for their acid-alkaline levels before being eaten: many authors take this information and tell readers whether certain foods are acidic and others are alkaline. This information is completely irrelevant because all that matters is how the foods are METABOLIZED--whether they cause your body to become more alkaline or more acidic.
For many years, I too believed all fruit became alkaline in the body, and because there was so much confusion on this topic. I did some testing on myself and others to see what the effects of specific fruits was. I found that most fruit causes our bodies to become more acidic. I wish I could tell you otherwise. I, too, was shocked to learn that fact and felt misled by authors who told me the "fruit becomes alkaline" myth. But, it simply was not true. I wish all fruit was alkalizing to the body because I love it too. But, I feel that people need to know the truth about the food they eat. Eat fruit as a "wise acid" choice because it offers many health benefits, but it does cause your body to become more acidic. Don't believe me? Test your pH levels before and after eating various fruits (and nothing else of course)...wait about 1/2 hour after finishing the fruit to see the effects.
Can you address the following question was posted above by Glenda:
I have been on Aciphex for quite some time...lately I'm having chest pain problems on the right side. I have read that sometimes medicine can mask what is the actual problem... for instance, gall bladder issues...
Does your book get into this level of detail or is it more preventative in nature; i.e., is it a home remedies type book or a "do this and not get there" type of book?
When you read The Ultimate Ph Solution, you will learn exactly how important it is for you to implement balancing your Ph not into your life, but also into the lives of the people around you, young and old. I cannot do this book enough justice with words except to say it the information contained is a key factor in having vibrant health.
Medication only deals with symptom relief but doesn't go to the root cause of the problem. For example, if a person has arthritis, the medication may help alleviate the pain (sometimes at the risk of heart attacks, death, and other horrible "side effects") but does not address why the person has arthritis in the first place. Ok, genetics may play a small role, but the incidence of arthritis is growing at lightning speed.
My book addresses one of the main factors linked to the increased incidence of disease--balancing one's body chemistry. Our blood provides fuel to our joints, gall bladder, muscles, brain, heart, and other organs and tissues). If it is acidic, it will cause damage. So, The Ultimate pH Solution is effective to BOTH prevent illness and help people overcome it. It can be used in conjunction with a naturally-minded health professional or by someone looking to empower themselves in their own health.
Plus, if you're drinking a lot of protein shakes and eating protein bars, often they are acid-forming so you'll want to restore your pH.
You'll probably find the section about how muscles play an important role in pH balancing quite interesting. Our muscles store magnesium--a very alkaline mineral. When our bodies become acidic, magnesium can be dumped from our muscles (at their expense) to restore the pH of the blood. A balanced pH means better muscle health too!
