New York magazine features an interesting roundup of articles about circumcision.
Parents in favor of circumcision say it reduces the risk of males contracting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Opponents say it exposes newborn boys to unnecessary surgery, and is nothing short of genital mutilation.
Momlogic has covered the topic of circumcision extensively over the past two years:

The benefits given in favor of circumcision (lessen cancer in wives, AIDS prevention, cleanliness) can be accomplished with water and soap. Boys should be taught to retract the foreskin when urinating and drying with tissue. This cuts down on bacteria and odor.
