Divorce court

I was watching Divorce tonight with my husband of 38 years, and you've got to figure, what are they thinking.

This woman who has a two year old, a one year old, is pregnant, and wanting a divorce after being married for less than a year, thinks she's right?  Why do people even get married with a track record like that.  They make a mockery of a sacred institution, and should not be given a license.

I haven't a clue. SOme people expect more than any body can give is a big part of the problem .I think anyway.

I think they should have mandatory life lessons classes in high school. We don't teach our kids how to have a healthy relationship, how to function in life. We teach them facts and figures and memorization but what of real life? Life is hard and it would be better to teach them coping skills and morality, not to bail when things get hard.

I think this is something that parents should do more than what we should expect our schools to do. Just my opinion though.

I agree but the harsh reality is that they don't. Look at our country now....there seems to be no manners and I'm sure I don't have to specify about the rest....

I think getting a marriage license should be contingent on attending classes, couples therapy and mentoring with a married couple. I also think that no one should give birth, without taking mandatory parenting & child care classes.

Animals can mate and have offspring. People are making a sacred commitment and have a serious responsibility to raise children as well as possible. That means education.

I agree I took marriage classes with the catholic church lots of years ago but it was not enough at all, especially when most families are dysfunctional.

I don't understand it. I mean if someone turns out to be abusive, that's one thing, but just divorcing like that? What happened to the scardity of marriage?

good question! Most states won't let you get a divorce when your pregnant .. some even make you wait a year. You know your not the same person when your pregnant. I know I am an emotional irrational wreck when I am!

I think young people should realise that getting married doesn't make life better. It makes it more challenging. And unless they're up for the challenge, then don't sign up for the commitment.

Divorce is so common now that, if there is a benefit, it is that the children have a large peer group of friends from broken homes. It seems it's not as traumatic as in the past. That makes a sad statement about our society's values.

No kidding, when my sister see's my daughter and all her friends, she calls them the one parent clique, meaning that each and evey one of my daughter's friend, my daughter included is from a divorced family.

I watched Divorce Court a few times and I found that show to be utterly ridiculous.
The show also tends to indicate that "cheating" is perfectly acceptable, even going as far as encouraging it. BAD.
