Gather Upgrade Notice

Hmmm would be nice if you could kinda tell us about the upgrade BEFORE telling us its happening! But I guess thats too much to ask.

I'm not usually one to look forward to upgrades, but I can say with total honesty that I am really looking forward to this one. The new commenting features sound great!

Might I suggest something for the next upgrade?

We have friend sets. I use the original three for friends, family, colleagues, and I have made some more personal ones. My husband and I both think it would be a great idea for members to be able to create group sets of our own. I'd like to keep all my cooking groups together, for instance. Then if I wanted to published a cooking related article, or something even more specific, I could just post it to one group set, rather than clicking on 10 different groups.

These should be sets that we design ourselves, because many groups are EXTREMELY specific in nature. For example, Asian cooking. I might be on 5 Asian cooking groups, and 15 other cooking groups, and 100 other non-cooking related groups. Perhaps all the Asian cooking groups as it might be, may not start with the same letter, so I'll have to go through all the groups and look for them. Wouldn't it be easier to have a group set like a friend set?

Also, when searching for groups when posting, we should be able to search a word, not just the first letter of the group name.

I have a group called O Canada. I can only find that group quickly by typing O. It would be nice if I could also find it by typing Canada in the posting feature.

I agree with Leah. The group search feature should be able to parse within a group name, not just the leading leftmost characters.

I've always thought group sets would be great. It's something that every time they ask for suggestions people bring it up and yet they never do it.

Thanks for your feedback and questions, folks. This upgrade is focused primarily on commenting. There won't be changes to photo albums (as Arlene asks) or publishing to groups (as Leah and Walker suggest) with this release.

I think what you will see, will be a lot of fun and relevant to everyone.

I wonder how this will work point wise. If someone is commenting on a comment made by someone else, will the view/point credit go to the person who started the post/photo like normal, or will it go to the person who made the comment and is getting a comment from someone else? Is that confusing....lol:)

I suspect my posting problem is because of something I am missing since it works on another computer. I will figure this out eventually.

Albums already do that don't they Leah? It would be cool to do that for articles too.

I would like to be able to just group my groups. Put the post all in one, recipes in another, picture groups in another group setting., etc. They are spread out all over and it is time consuming to go through them all and click on the ones you want. So just like they have choices for friends and A list friends, have things were you could put your groups together. Sort of like Leah was talking about.

Since Gather will be down tonight, I probably will be wide awake at that time and wanting to Gather. Isn't that how that usually works?

Speaking of the last one..
The groups were supposed to be fixed so they will set back to 0 on the pending posts.
But, my group, Anythingwriting is still counting up.
It says I have 7 posts to moderate, I click on it, and it says, You have no new posts.
