We are aware that email alerts are still down. They were not turned back on when we brought the site back live after yesterday morning's upgrade. We tried turning them back on in the late afternoon yesterday, but received some reports that members were receiving the wrong messages. Email notifications are now turned off again, to give our development and QA teams the time they need to make sure it is working properly. Thank you for your patience, we hope to have it up and running ASAP!
Good morning to you. Okay. Yesterday when the notice came out, it didn't occur to me that "email alerts" referred to every type of activity one has requested to be notified of,
I thought "email alerts" referred only to emails, i.e.,
"A Message for You.
Hi Lady Nalita California Wine Fine/Peachy Keen W.,
_____________; esq. has just sent you a private message. View this message here
My bad -- read the words too exactly (Panda Eats Shoots and Leaves).
When do you think Notifications -- of all kinds and whatever one has requested -- shall return, or is that yet to be determined?
We are hoping by mid-afternoon, Eastern Time, assuming there are no more hitches. Thank you for your patience!
This is an excellent resource for all Gather members and the perfect thing to do after all the recent changes. It's great that this is published by Gather and not an individual member or even the old Guide team. This allows ANY member to answer questions and takes away the fear that they may be stepping on toes if they jump in to help.
Thanks for stopping by and we certainly appreaciate your support!
Hi Janna,
Yesterday you commented that the Most Discussed article list is still not accurate. There was a fix implemented with the upgrade to address this. Unfortuantely what we thought was causing the problem did not totally resolve it. It is being actively worked on and I will leave an update message on the Help article when it is fixed.
Thanks for stopping by. There were some planned changes to subscriptions with the upgrade. Please take a moment to read this article by Jim Bostick where he outlines the changes.
I hope there will soon be something similar to take it's place. It's just so hard to sort through everything when there's no rhyme or reason to the order of it all.
Thanks for the answer.
I was trained that if you take a little longer to do it right the first time, you avoid far more trouble later; therefore, I have as much patience as it shall take you to do it "a-okay".
"The Gather Member Support" was/is an excellent idea. Kudos to whomever thought of it.
Thank you, again!
Email notifications unfortunately will not be turned back on today. We know many of you rely on them and miss them! Fixing this is a very high priority and continues to be worked on. Please watch for an update tomorrow.
In the meantime, I am really liking Guthrie. I have created different sets of friends based on varied interests. While, I will still be publishing to all my connections and everyone will be able to view these, the friend sets will really help with emails I send out to my friends about new posts and other interesting things. I feel using these sets will help eliminate a lot of mass mails that are sent out at the moment.
Actually, I could give a rat's *** about the "Most Discussed" list, unless I suddenly have the desire to join a Good Morning, Good Afternoon, or Good Evening chat or play a "game" listing all the word that begin with the letter 's'. It's the "Most Read" list that I miss. Thanks for the follow-up.
Also, I think the new Gather Help Desk is fantastic. Rolling it out along with the update and having a significant Gather staff and support presence yesterday (and today) is nice.
