Why does someone get offended when someone else laughs?

Why does someone get offended when someone looks at life with a sense of humor?

Do people think that ambulance drivers pull up to a horrible scene, take care of business and then get back to the station and cry.  NO!  They don't!  They laugh!

Do people think that cops pull up to an incident, take care of business and then get back in their car and run off and cry about it.  NO!  They don't!  They laugh!

They all gather together - and they laugh and make jokes.

Why?  Because if they didn't they would all hide in a corner some where sucking their thumbs with a gun in their hand about to pull the trigger.

People get a grip on life and understand that if we don't laugh about things, we will sitting in the corner sucking our thumbs.  And you know what comes next.

I have a very dry sense of humor which sometimes gets me in trouble. I think people become offended when they don't understand the job or when the job is perceived to be aimed at them. Remember that a lot of people are paranoid and it's good to share the joke with everyone so no one feels left out. Much of my humor stems from my strong sense of sarcasm and this has gotten me in some not-so-funny positions in the past. Now I try to be more careful with it. When it comes down to it, you gotta laugh!

I know exactly what you mean... Besides we use less muscles laughing and smiling than we do being too serious and frowning all of the time. Not to mention that laughter is good for the heart and soul. Thank you for sharing.

Humor plays an important role in handling stress and tragedy. It's a survival technique. Good point you've made.

I laugh all the time at almost everything. I am loud too! I'm told all the time "you ain't right" which makes me laugh more!

Most days I can find the humor in almost anything! I love to laugh. Unless of course it's the dreaded PMS and then things don't seem to humorous for a couple of days!!

I guess it's just many different personalities in the world. What I find funny, someone else may not find funny at that particular time. I like to laugh at myself most of the time! Because that is some funny stuff!

Humor is one of the most effective ways humans have to deal with stress (probably why the best comics are always on drugs).

I try to see the humor in my life but I have to keep it in check. It is so easy to slide over to the cynical side which is not what I desire. Thanks for commenting on my poem.

Well said!!!! Laughter has kept me sane after all the trauma I have already experienced this year! If it weren't for laughter and humor I would be catatonic by now!
