I have been visiting Arkansas all my life.First visits with my family to see my uncle, aunt
and cousins in hardy,ar.
Oh boy what fun we had in that little mountain town.We rode horses, canoed mamoth spring river, visited caves, swim, camped, went to shows, live theaters.
There are so many good memories. Also had friends in clinton,ar. and my husband family are close to helena,ar.
My daughter went to camp in little rock,ar.
Arkansas has beautiful scenery, lots to explore, fun for the whole family.
$ I would love to go dig in the diamond mine there.
We did go see Hurricane River Cave a few years ago.
I have been to others.
I like the caves, they are neat.
I like the mountain areas of Arkansas the best.(Hardy or up close to branson,Mo.)
Helena is like part of the delta(crop/farm land) I like it there though.
My husband's family resides in those areas,His grandmother is buried there.

They have a diamond mine ,I think in or close to texarkana,ar.It would be fun to find a big diamond.
The Crater of Diamonds State Park, the diamond mine, is in Murfreesboro which is about an hour and a half give or take from Little Rock. We have taken the kids on several occassions. I would suggest going in a cooler month as there is not a lot of shade in most areas (at least the ones we hunted in). Also after a rain is great fun.
We are actually planning a trip this fall because A - it will be cooler and B - my sister found this place that has cabins that are actually teepees with a firepit in the middle. We think it sounds like great fall fun for the kids!
I was born and raised in Helena, Kim. Graduated from the high school (public) there in 89. The intrigue of Helena for me are the historic homes. Of course the biggest draw to Helena each year is the King Biscuit Blues Festival. I haven't missed it since the first one!
