The last time I added a photo was November 14, 2008. No problem at all. Today I tried to upload and couldn't get anywhere in Firefox. So I open the dreaded and slow IE and discovered that I needed Active X. Okay, no problem...in IE!
I uploaded my photos using IE and discovered I can be signed in to Gather using both Firefox and IE. I also discovered this is necessary. While IE will upload my photos, when I mouse over my thumbnails, they disappear from the page! Quick flip to Firefox - thumbnails are there and photos can be viewed via thumbnail click. Perhaps IE is feeling neglected and wants to piss me off by not allowing me to click on my thumbnails? It's not affecting my photos in albums, just those wild ones that refuse to be categorized into albums.
With so many Firefox users (and a growing number of Chrome users, not to mention the Seamonkey folks), why can't programs be designed to play nice with everything? Why do people launch stuff that they know won't work on some browsers? Gather was working fine on Firefox two weeks ago. Now if I want to upload photos, I have to open IE. Show some love! Or tell if there is a fix - I haven't been able to locate one!

Just think of all those subpar HDTVs in February. Yikes.
I don't use the "search for photos" button when I upload using FF. Instead I have the directory open with the thumbnail display and just drag and drop into the Gather window. The search option in FF works okay if you can remember the name (or number) of all the pics you wanted to upload, but I like being able to see thumbnail images to make sure I am grabbing the pics I really wanted.
Same with each browser I used so I would have to change back and forth . I also have Vista still trying to get used to that.
I do a little tech troubleshooting at work and we so rarely have Firefox issues - it's usually the course management system or other software messing things up.
