About a month ago, I signed the girls up for the summer reading program at the library. Both girls were given a chart with circles to fill in when I had read to them for ten minutes. They came with three "free" circles that were already filled in. Now that the entire sheet is filled in, it means I have read to them for ten hours! I consider this a monumental feat-do you know how hard it is to read to toddlers for ten minutes straight?

We have just returned from the library where they turned in their completed sheets. They got all kinds of cool stuff for completing them! Each girl got a certificate with their name on it.

They also got a construction paper prize ribbon with their name on it displayed on the library wall, with all the other kids who completed their sheets.

Each girl also received a card for a free game of bowling, and free pass to the Aquarium. Not sure what we'll do with those, since they are too young to bowl and they already get into the Aquarium for free, being under the age of two.
The best part was that they each got a brand new book to keep. They had several board book to choose from. Bella chose Hugs and Kisses, by Roberta Grobel Intrater, and Alexis chose Grumbly Bunnies, by Willy Welch.
I am looking forward to reading their new books to them, filling in their sheet, and continuing to celebrate the joy of reading with them!

Wow!!!! That's fantastic!!! {{HUGS}} such a wonderful post to share!
What a wonderful mom you are. And this is great.
Great job!
How about donating their wins to like a plan parent hood or similar. Ask them to give someone who has a child that could use them.
Another place I like to donate stuff like that is I call the local DCFS and ask them if they will donate it to a forster parent that could use them.
That's fantastic! how exciting!
That's wonderful! It's so important to foster a love for reading from an early age. Growing up, my family never did a movie night or a game night, but every week we would have library night, where we would go to the library, pick out our books for the week, stop by the grocery store on the way home for chocolate bars, and then Dad would make a huge batch of popcorn and we would all sit, read, and eat our treats. My husband thought this was the weirdest family tradition he'd ever heard of when we first started dating, but now that we have kids he thinks it's great and wants to implement it with them once they're old enough!
