Wow,
What a time we had. It was a disaster from the beginning. My son is very shy, so I did not expect him to actually want to sit with Santa, at least by himself. He wanted to see him though so we went. Well he said he wanted to sit on his lap and I went with him and he hid the whole time. We didn't push him and that was fine, so we said that it was time to leave. Then came the hysterics, saying he wanted to see him and he wanted to sit on his lap. We of course all the time knew that he was just saying this and would be too shy. So we finished our shopping and went back because his cousins were there and I thought maybe he would after he saw them see Santa. Well he still didn't so we said that it was time to go. Then the real temper tantrum started and of course I couldn't give him another chance. We left to go to the car and he cried the whole way there and then screamed at the top of his lungs, which is unusual for him, all the way home. I felt bad because I know that he wanted to, but was just too shy. I am not sure if I am going to let him try again tomorrow, or if I am going to let it go. Even though he says he wants too, I am just not sure how another encounter would work. What do you all think?

We did not have Santa come by last year as the only Santa available is my husband and since he is black, we think it would kind of give it away if Santa changed color all of a sudden:)
A few weeks later we tried to take him to another Santa at a Christmas party. He stopped walking dead in his tracks and wouldn't budge. He did take his gift from Mrs. Clause, but there was no way we were getting anywhere near Santa again.
I doubt I will try this year. I know Elliott will not even cross the gate this year to see Santa without screaming "No, I no no not wanna see Santa!"
Personally, I'm not too crazy about the Santa thing anyways. Really, we tell kids not to talk to strangers, but, then, we encourage them to sit on some stranger's lap just because he's dressed up like Santa?
