Stopping contractions

They stopped my daughters in her 8th month because they said it's an important time for lung development.
She ended up going way past her due date because of it,but all was well in the end.

If you're not due until mid-November, they'll want you to be as close to that as possible. Sure, they try to stop contractions this early.

Oh Martha, Sorry about the pain! It is normal to stop bacause the baby's lungs may not be developed enough yet to breathe outside of you, that's the most inportant part. You may be having Braxton Hicks, the "false" contractions that are common in pregnancy. You shouldn't still be in pain though, I wouldn't think. Is this your 1st baby? I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old. My 7 year old i went full term the 3 year old I had her 3 weeks early. I had a car accident with Gracin the 3 year old I was in the middle of a 5 car pile up the doctor said I was more than likely stressed because of the accident. But I was 6 months with her when I had the accident.

She was very healthy though I had her early.

This is something doctors do when contractions start early to help
the hcild's lungs develope. my granddaughter had false labor she
is having twin girls with due date the end of this month. She was
given tsuff to stop contractions also stuff to build the babies lungs
up and had togo back for more tsuff on the lungs.

It's very normal to stop the contractions. The baby's lungs still need to develope more. That said, if the contractions couldn't be stopped, Betamethasone, is given to help the babys lungs mature if contractions can't be stopped.

One thing you may want to refrain from, if your doctor hadn't informed you, from starting the contractions back up is nipple stimulation (like during foreplay). Nipple stimulation you to produce the hormone Pitocin, which can induce contractions. Pitocin, in larger doses, is what is given to induce labor.

Yes, it is normal to stop contractions if it is not time for the baby to come out. They have did that with my sister...as they cndider it a false labor. As for me I had all three of my kids at 8 months. Nothingthe doctors could do because myu water had broke. So they had to deliver my kids.

I have t agree with the others, it is what they do to allow the lungs to develop enough before delivery. I can't speak personally, because during my pregnancies I didn't experien ce contractions (babies to big to engage) so it was necessary to has c-sections. If you feel more comfortable with an answer from your own doctor, call him and insist on talking to him, if he is not available, he should call you back. I'm sure he won't want you to worry.

If your due date is correct, it is indeed standard practice to try to stop premature labor. If by pain you mean contractions, that's a nuisance rather than a worry. However you shouldn't ordinarily be expected to have constant pain, so if you do your doctor will want to investigate why. You've almost certainly had a recent ultrasound. If you mean 1 1/2 centimeters, that's not unusual.
You say "every time I get up..." If you're having constant pain even in your most comfortable position, you doctor will want to know.

When i was pregnate with my son, he wasn't due until Feburary, but i started having contractions in the begining of janurary - i'd have to go in almost once a week and get a shot to stop contractions for the whole month of janurary. He was head down and ready to go, but the last time i went in they told me it would be the last time they could give me the shot, and if i started back up that following week - we would just have to let him come. Lol - that night that they gave me the last shot he flipped head up, contractions stopped and i ended up getting a c-section .... i thought to myself i should have never went in that last time, and just let the contractions go, and waited to go in once they were 5 - 3mon apart, i could have had him normal instead of the c-section.

They stopped my wifes labor at about a 5 weeks before the babies due date. Unless they are certain the babies lungs are formed, and they get to the mother in time to stop the labor they will. They should have done an ultrasound after you were let out of the hospital to determine if the lungs were developed so that if you go in to a labor again they will know weather or not it is OK to go ahead with the birth. Of course I am writing this 11 days after you posted it, so it is quite likely that you might have already had the baby.

As long as you aren't dilating too much, and have not had your water break, it's completely normal for the doctor to stop labor if it's too early. The longer the baby is inside you, the better the health will be. If you had dilated more actively, or your water had broken, they likely would have let labor continue.
