My first trip to the Amish country was when I was pregnant with Elliott. It was a bus trip with our church, so it was a long trip, a lot of walking, and a miserable ride back. Our bus broke down, and after switching buses a couple times, the one we had for the longest part of our return trip had no air conditioning. I was almost eight months pregnant, hot and tired. Needless to say, I didn't have fond memories.
My husband suggested we take a day trip, and even though I like the idea of the shops, I wasn't too thrilled. Spending half the day in the car to push my 18 month old son around in a stroller all day? Not my idea of fun. And I didn't think Elliott would enjoy being strapped in all day.
However, I agreed. And although I am exhausted, we had a really good time! I enjoyed the historical tours, and Elliott enjoyed himself more than I thought he would. He really liked chasing the ducks, and the train ride...but he absolutely LOVED the buggy ride. He laughed the entire time. And he laughed hard! I knew he would like it...he loves swings, "flying" and riding with the windows down...I guess I just didn't realize how much he would enjoy it. The faster the buggy went, the more he clapped and laughed. Even the driver couldn't help but to laugh at him!
We did a little shopping, picked up some goodies from the bakeries, and now, he's sleeping hard!

My Elliott had a new first experience today, too. :) He went for a ride in a bike trailer for the first time today. We bought it last year, but for whatever reason, never got around to actually taking him anywhere. Today, my husband took him all over town, and he LOVED it. He told me all about it at least a dozen times when they got back.
