I notice the subject of kid-free zones is in the media again. Ironically, I wish I had been at a kid-free restaurant tonight. Actually, I wish I had been at an inconsiderate-people free restaurant tonight.
The family seated near us had a two year old who would just shreak to hear her own voice. Not only that, but the adults were giggling and encouraging her to keep it up. The incredibly shrill screaming was stabbing like a knife into my head. This was Chili's, not a fancy restaurant or anything. I wouldn't mind a kid laughing, talking, whatever. I seriously thought of starting to scream myself. But I figured they'd call the police on me for causing a disturbance.
As long as I am on a rant, I have also seen people let their child walk all over a restaurant including going to other tables & touching things. This really irritates me. This is the kind of ridiculous behavior that starts folks talking about establishing kid-free zones. It's really not fair to the majority of parents who see that their children behave in public.
OK, enough complaining. It's past my bedtime.

Debi, I'll keep your suggestion in mind. LOL
Now don't get me wrong what the people in the Chili's restaurant were doing wasn't at all the correct way to react to their child's shrill screaming. But to punish all parents because of a few bad incidents is wrong.
I was truly blessed to have children who sat quietly and still in restaurants and I have no idea how I would handle it if they did not. *knocking on wood*
My wife got mad at me the first time I did it but I call the waitress and tell her we are moving to another table because of the noise. Not just kids but anyone that gets too loud, I make sure they know it bothers me.
