It seems that one has to have Java Script enabled in order to share photos on Gather and if you're using IE, then you have to download something in order to be able to share photos through an IE browser. Photo sharing on Gather can be fun, but Gather could save a lot on hosting expenses by enhancing the photo upload options and letting members just place a URL of their photos to share. Of course, these photos would have to be hosted somewhere like on the member's own server or through a service like Flickr or any of the dozens of Photo hosting companies available to consumers.
From a member's standpoint, it makes it much easier to have more uploading options without having to "allow" Java Scripts or downloading stuff depending on the browsers that members are using. Members who have encountered a lot of problems trying to share photos on Gather could just upload their photos elsewhere and then add the URL or link to their images for sharing on Gather. Many websites have these photo uploading options and providing them here on Gather would make for a more user-friendly experience.
From a Gather executive standpoint, allowing for multiple photo upload options could end up being much cheaper in the long run than Gather hosting every single image that members share on it's own. It could free up a lot of server space for Gather, saving gather a lot of money.

Paula C., It's good that you don't have any trouble uploading photos. Unfortunately, there are other members on Gather who do. This post was meant to offer suggestions as a solution to Gather members other than yourself who may experience some difficulty in uploading photos.
Thanks for the comments!
