Friday afternoon after going to my doctor's appointment, buying groceries and filling up with gas (I paid out of my 'ying yang' for groceries and gas so it was time to get home and stay home) once I got home the sun was shining so bright I decided to get the hummingbird feeders down for a good washing and some fresh juice! (My gather friends know I have been trying to get hummingbird shots and had posted one 'decent' capture several weeks ago).
As I started out the back door I saw three hummies "going at it" so I turned back in to get my camera and lucky for me I did!!!! This is what I saw.................

After he flew off I got the feeder, go inside to give it a good washing, cleaning and some fresh 'juice'. I go back out to hang the clean feeder and proceed to get the next feeder. As I started up the deck steps this is what I saw.................

I hid behind a large plant as not to scare him off....

getting closer...

yeah, he flew off and landed a patio chair...

getting ready for another flight....

After several minutes, he came back....

and proceeds to put on a show...

drinking 'juice' and turning around...

until he had made a 90 degree turn....

then before I knew it, - he had made a 360 degree turn........."SHOWOFF"!!!!
You never know what's in your feeders, - nothing like a beautiful surprise!!!

Please forgive me..... when I first saw your topic heading - all I could think was the commercial "What's in your wallets?"
I should not be commenting in this crazy mood. I think I will just go back to bed now
Phyllis, these are beautiful photos and what a nice surprise. I just changed my juice too, but no butterflies, LOL. You're one lucky lady.
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
I haven't seen hummers at all this year...and the neighbor's feeder keeps getting ants...no hummers.
These are some great shots! The Monarchs haven't hit here, yet. We're usually their first stop as they cross Lake Erie, coming in from Canada on their way south. They're pretty tired after that trip and spend a few days filling our trees and bushes. I would never dare to try to capture them the way you did. I just don't have that talent.
I'm better when it comes to cleaning paint off of floors.
