This is an article to consider carefully.

What has your neighbor done in which you have been an eyewitness?

I thought of this topic for one reason. Often, we all have done something we didn't think anyone else witnessed. In our neighborhoods, we have all seen something which didn't add up. Here is the chance to briefly tell GATHER what happened.

There are a few restrictions I have applied to prevent lawsuits and offended individuals from lashing back at the storyteller.

1. No names will be used

2. No profanity or sexual content of any nature!

Guys and gals, please keep it clean but share the stories. May your stories be funny, sad or even depressing. Let's open up!

I will go first...

I had a neighbor who wasn't aware that I knew about one of his habits.

Early morning, he would open his door, walk out into the hallway and peep into the eyehole of other neighbors' doors. As I return from taking the trash to the corner, I caught him with his face pressed against another young woman's door.

This was creepy to say the least. I now place a decoration over the eyehole of my doors. Ewwwwwwww.

Hi Doc!

Imagine how I felt when I had to go back to my apartment. I have been very conscious of this man and his whereabouts at all times. I moved out of the building shortly after that incident!

I had a neighbor whose car broke down, he somehow made it catch fire and eventually brought out the blowtorch to help it burn. He did collect money from the insurance company.

I watched this at an apartment complex I used to live in. One of the neighbors drove home - was so drunk that he fell out of his car with vodka bottle in hand. It was pouring rain. I watched that man struggle and fall and stumble around the car for a good half hour trying to get to his door - he'd get up with one hand on the car and realize he'd left the vodka bottle and fall down trying to get it again. He finally crawled - vodka bottle in hand - in the driving rain - to his door. First, last and only time I saw such a drama, so I'm hoping this was just an isolated incident - not habit on his part!

Kate, I was speechless to see this man peeping into someone's apartment. It was very hard to wrap my mind around the reason as to why someone would even want to be that perverted. I have heard of peeping Toms but peeping through the front door? Insane in the membrane was he. Try it one day! I know years ago, you could stand on the outside of your door, peep into the eyehole and see into the room.

What disturbed me most about the whole situation was the fact I would spend countless nights sprawled out on my living room couch. How many mornings did he peep into my livingroom?

Thanks for the feedback and your story about the man beating the girl with a bottle in the middle of the parking lot. The scary part about that story for me is what did he do to the girl behind closed doors?

before I moved into my neighborhood, I checked the sex offender registry. After we moved, a woman who was married to an sex offender who committed a hanieous crime allowed her husband to move back into her home under house arrest. Next door to them lived two toddler girls. Our associated informed the home next door. The people soon moved after. These days you just have to make sure your security is beefed up.

Oh my gracious Joanna! I remember living in Florida. A resident posted the flyer of a young man who was a registered sex offender. He soon disappeared!

I cannot think of a story to tell that would be juicy, that I would want to speak about. We are talking about my neighbors, who could very well be on Gather, for all I know.
Creepy is certainly everywhere, though.

Yes Nalita, creepy people and the things they do are in every bend of society. What tops this off is you don't really know the person living beside you. That fact is crazy alone. However, we must empower ourselves to learn who are neighbors are for our very own benefits. For me to have a 15 year old daughter and learn the neighbor has been convicted of having sex with 15 year old girls would be enough to make me say, What the heck?

Let's face it, all realtors are not going to disclose ALL the facts about the neighborhood. I think it's a travesty for a family to have loved ones hurt or even killed because NO ONE knew about the perpetrators past. I cringe. Some actions can be overlooked but, there are some things about a person's past I would like to know up front.

A neighbor being a member of gather.com? Yes, you are correct. That is always a possibility. Have you ever seen the movie, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER?

My gracious, I am glad some of my neighbors over the years have not read this article.

I am sure I would have comments into the hundreds..LOL

i used to live in a complex next door to some folk with ISSUES. the husband was out of work and after the wife would leave (with thier 3 kids in tow) he would go up to the apartment of one of the young, wild, drop-outs that lived in our building. they would smoke weed and have sex.

one day the girl from upstairs came downstairs and had the nerve to knock on the door and ask the wife for the husband. needless to say.. it was ON!

the married couple began throwing things and yelling loudly. the girl from upstairs went back upstairs. i went and got the kids and brought them to our place. at the end of it all the husband left. the wife was cleaning a wall covered in pop and she sat in the doorway crying like a little kid.

oddly.. they stayed together the whole time we lived there.

I must admit...... I don't talk to any of my neighbors! Except for 3 to 4 of them... Does that make me a bad person?

MY LORD! That must have been very scary! Thank you for collecting the children and keeping them safe! You are a gem and may GOD always bless you!

What a mess the husband has made of the family. I don't understand how some people may feel that what is done in the dark will come to the light. His actions were tasteless and very tacky!

It seems the husband never stopped to weigh the consequences of what he was doing with this young woman.

It seems as though you and I are on the same wavelength. Only associating with a few neighbors seems very wise to me.

I have become very cautious of what goes on around me now. I think the trust factor among neighbors has dwindled down to nearly nonexistent! I hear stories involving the neighbors' teens committing home invasions, etc...It's a sad thing.
