Soon, it will be time to say goodbye. I have spent many mornings, cup of coffee in hand, sitting on the back porch admiring the stunts and acrobatics of the amazing hummingbird. Not to mention the middays and early evenings that I've enjoyed his feats.
He is very territorial and I have witnessed him fighting two other hummers out of his domain. Our little time together just started this year. My fiancee and I decided to buy a hummingbird feeder. I didn't want to hang it, but instead decided to sit it on the corner of the picnic table on the back porch.
Not expecting too much activity, we were amazed when we were enjoying a quiet evening outside and the little guy flew up....inspected us both, hummed around the feeder, and zoomed off. Moments later, he became a welcomed visitor and was not intimidated by the two poor humans that sat enthralled during his visits.
I know that it will soon be time for him to fly away, at least until next year. Until then, I am going to enjoy our quiet moments together...

I have 4 feeders and get so amused by their territorial attitudes. I love to hear them chirp as they go after one another for getting near what they deem to be their territory.
Blessings
Here in Michigan they left a few weeks ago. Until next year......
Rose, I am glad you found this article. Unfortunately my photos can not do this little guy justice. He is amazing and I will be glad to spend time with him next year. I'm glad Michael passed on the word. Hugs to you both.
Janice, they are "little giants" aren't they?
I would love to have daily visits from these beautiful creatures.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Shannon.
