The little town of Aynor, SC was wall to wall people on September 19th. They all had converged for the annual Harvest Hoedown celebration. With that many people in a small area, it was difficult to take a lot of photos. I did manage to take a few though to give you a glimpse of what we saw.

This metal artwork booth had some interesting items. Of course Phyllis loved the kitty cat garden stakes.

Characature drawing is always popular at any festival I've gone too. Here the artist begins the drawing of a young boy posed infront of her.

Another display was of items made out of coconuts. The doggy above is a piggy bank and the giraffes below are desk lamps. I bought a small wooden bead flower ring at this place for $3.

I thought the wooden garden art below would be perfect for Ina's place and look great in her and Kevin's backyard. What do you think?

There were lots of lovely outdoor Autumn plants for sale.

This woman also had some hand-painted old wooden furnature that made for nice decorations.

These trick or treat candy holders were really a cute idea. You could use them to hold the candy you were giving out or a child could carry one to collect their candy.

I posted a photo in my Gather gallery of some wooden staked flowers made from pinecones. Below are the other styles that were available. You can visit them individually to see more detail. It really was a cool idea for a pesky item that is abundant here in the South.

Of course there was fresh produce to be had. I mean these folks harvest something, right?

Peppers and pumpkins.

Peaches.

And tomatos and cucumbers.

Another booth had beautiful hand-made wreaths. Above is a macro of one of them.
Of course a fair wouldn't be complete without food. There were all kinds of wonderful edible goodies to enjoy. I spied a bake sale booth and proceeded to buy several items to bring home and snack on. Phyllis purchased a funnel cake for her husband, while I enjoyed a home-made strawberry italian ice with real hunks of strawberry in it. It was wonderful.
There was also a stand from the Lollipop Lady, where you could purchase fun-shaped lollipops. Of course I am a sucker (ha ha) for candy and purchased a grape flavored flip-flop and a watermelon flavored daisy lollipop.
One other food item that I remember was peanutbutter made at Palmetto Farms. This stuff was wonderful. I purchased a bag of their Confetti Popcorn, but plan to checkout their website in the future for other items (www.palmettofarms.com).
Gloria and I had hotdogs and chips for lunch and then we headed back to the beach. It was a fun time spent in Aynor and I definitely plan to attend again next year.

What a fabulous festival - love those lawn ornaments and some fresh peaches would be welcome too.
I don't know how you manged such good shots in a throng of people.
BTW, today is the Autumnal Equinox, and in old Europe the "second harvest" (Mabon in pre-Christian Celtic culture) was celebrated today. The popular beverage? Cider! So drink up!
I lived in SC for a while and attended several such festivals. We don't have anything like that around here.
The food sounds wonderful as well! I probably would have purchased some of those peaches if they were not too pricey~
Thank you for posting to Pretty Pictures.
