The Moonlight Garden at the Edison Estate Gardens
is pure eye candy - a delight for the senses.
Enjoy the Photo Tour!

Yes, those are Edison light bulbs strung above the garden.
The entry to the Edison Estate and Gardens
is located across the street,
where you are greeted by a statue of Edison
under the famous banyan tree.

Entrance fee is $20 per person, well worth the expense since the ticket is all inclusive for both the Edison and Ford Estate homes, an excellent museum exhibit on both Ford and Edison, Edison's laboratory and several Ford Model T's on display.
See their official website
Edison and Ford Winter Estates and Gardens
in Fort Myers, Florida for more information.
Moonlight Gardens are meant to be enjoyed at night.
Pale and preferably white flowers are chosen to
reflect the moonlight.
... but, what would a romantic garden be without
fragrance to stimulate the senses?
Scented white magnolia with deep green waxy leaves.

A lily pond for reflection ...
... planted with white and magenta colored water lilies.
Love those cobalt blue strawberry pots ...

Edison's office
located in a pretty little one room cottage
at one end of the garden.

Mina Edison created the Moonlight Garden in 1928.
Ellen Bidle-Shipman, a renowned landscape architect
acted as her garden designer.
Scented bougainvillea to perfume the night air ...

White scroll design stone benches
to gleam in the moonlight ...

White plumbago to reflect the moonbeams.

I was ready to stay - to experience just one evening.
The tranquility of the lily pond
enveloped by darkness,
reflecting the moonlight.

Alas -
we had to contend with the heat of the Florida sun.

Bougainvillea

I wish we could have rested on the benches,
but everything was roped off
to protect the freshly installed grass.

The air was perfumed with the potent scent of flowers
in the afternoon heat.
The deep green felt soothing to the eyes and our senses.

One last look at this tropical oasis ..............

A glimpse of the orange bushes in the gardens beyond.

Lovely - just lovely ...

I haven't stopped thinking about
white garden benches and cobalt blue strawberry pots
since we've come back.

One of the pleasures of seeing someone else's garden,
is that you always come away with
new ideas for your own little garden paradise.
So while I'm contemplating my own garden ideas,
I'd like to share this website I came across
which has a great list of favorite plants
for your very own fragrant - glow in the dark -

I hope you have enjoyed our in depth tour of the
Moonlight Garden
at the Edison Estate Gardens.

Of course we had a look at the
interior of the cottage
to see Edison's office.

We continued our tour of the Gardens
the Edison and Ford Estates

the Ford Museum
the Edison Museum
and of course
Henry Ford's antique cars and Model T's.
Here is a sneak peek .........

I think I'll have to keep my eyes out for a strawberry pot, I just love how they planted it.
Thank you for posting to Pretty Pictures.
I like his office, I could get a lot of writing done in there!
You never seize to impress. Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
You said 'Eye Candy,' but I did not see one lady in a halter top in your photos. Just giving a politically correct male view.
