Do children get easier or tougher as they get older?

Do you think that children get easier or tougher to raise/deal with as they get older?

Just wondering what other people's opinions are on this issue. I have a 2 y/o and a 4 y/o and right this minute my head is killing me, it feels like its going to explode and I am quite tempted to pull all my hair out and lock myself in my closet! It really has been one of those days! SO.... Does this mean that it just gets harder and harder? Or at some point does it get any easier? Please say it does!

children get a lot easier when they get older. my two eldest are their wifes problem now !

They get harder - they learn more, experience more, want more - and they they want it all on THEIR terms.

My kids are all in their 30's....most days....it is easier....Occasionally, I would like them to go back to a younger age.

My kids are 12 and 9 and they have gotten easier to handle. There is hope!
I'll have to chew on this for a while.

Usually easier, girls a little tougher. Stephanie is right. With grown kids there are days you wish they were younger. If for no other reason, to be able to just grab them and whip their butts. There is one advantage when they do the pouty thing, you can just ignore them for a while then they get over it.

To me, the easiest was when they were about 4 through 14. Years of bliss. Now my sons are 15 and 17 and they are MUCH harder on me than my four year old daughter. Plus, because they are older, the dangers are much worse. When they are younger you feel like you have more control, and they really do listen to you better. Now, my sons say that they are "practically adults." To them, this means they can do whatever they want. Plus, they are much more expensive. Oh, to have my sweet, inquisitive, mischevous, funny, little boys back!!!!

I think it goes back and forth. Really little is hard, then it gets easier when they get about 4-5 for a few years, then they start to get attitudes. From there it probably just gets worse.

well... they'll make you smile a lot more as they grow up you'll become their confidants when they have things and secrets to share hope this helps

They get easier to watch as they get older because they get more independent. They get tougher to deal with because of the attitude they get. I have a 14 y/o girl and my boys are 12 and 4. My boys are way more easy than my daughter. She gets an attitude at the drop of a hat. My boys are mellow.

Truthfully both! They get easier, as you don't have to do everything for them, but harder, they have a mind of their own and are always right according to them! :)

they get harder, learned word like "can I have, will you loan me,will you give me, why ( and use it a lot), you do more for ______ than you do me. ect.

My daughter has a 5 year old and a two year old. When it gets bad, she tells them to call grandma...Think of how every day you can have a positive influence on these two little creatures. That might help you through the bad times.

Young childrens needs and wants are fairly basic. As they get older their needs and wants get much more complex. So I guess my answer is that in some ways they get easier but mentally and emotionally probably more difficult.

They don't get easier or harder. Just different! Fortunately, you will continue to change and grow with them and will be up for any challenge they might present. It's NEVER easy being a loving parent!
