He has recently started showing an interest in dinosaurs. He has a few dinosaur plush toys, but no dinosaur books as of yet. He has learned about dinosaurs by watching some specials on the Discovery and History channels as well as a few episodes of Go Diego Go where they talked about dinosaurs. He likes to roar like a dinosaur and knows which one is a T-Rex and which one is a Stegasaurus. This would be a great book for him so we can continue teaching him about dinosaurs and inspiring him to have a love for learning and reading as he grows older.
My 11 year old was crazy about dinosaurs when he was around 5, so much that he just had to have his bedroom decor in a prehistoric style. Of course this decor has now been passed down to my 6 year old because he's now the one who adores the dinos.
Our littlest guy, who's 16 months old growls every time he sees one, so I have a strong feeling that he'll end up with the prehistoric bedroom decor too!
Aah boys & dinosaurs... you can't beat it!
He's got a couple other Dinosaur books right now and a small set of dinosaur figures. Recently he got a big T-Rex dinosaur play figure.
Out of four Halloweens TWO of those years he dressed as a Dinosaur/lizard. What can I say? He loves reptiles and dinosaurs!
Gideon is always eager to devour books and I'm equally as eager to nourish his mind and imagination with them. I would be honored (and I'm sure Gideon would too) if we were one of the lucky ten chosen.
It's neat to learn about them with him and read together. There's been plenty of nights and days spent reading books about Dinosaurs.
I can't wait to see if we can get this collection so we can add it to our reading list.
Thanks so much for the chance to win such a neat book.
Dinosaurs are as fascinating to me today as they were when I was a kid, but not even I consider them the sole 'territory' of boys.:)
My five-year-old son loves dinosaurs, and he treasures the dinosaur book that I got him at the library sale for 25 cents. It is from 1978, and it is quite faded, and a few of the pages are ripped, but to my son this does not matter, it is one of his favorite books. He loves to read about, where the dinosaurs used to live, and at the end of the book it gives a color map of where the different dinosaurs lived. My son always asks "Which dinosaur used to live, where grandpa lives?", and then we take a good look at the map to see, which dinosaurs lived in Northern Europe, where grandpa lives, and which ones lived in the Southern part of the U.S. where we live.
I really think it is amazing, how it is often the simplest things that makes our children happy, and it makes me so proud to see, how my son is able to treasure a book from the 70s.
Today, when we were walking home from my son's pre k class, we saw a bone in the grass, and while I was a bit grossed out, my son sure enough had a different take on it. He told me that it was a dinosaur that had left behind a baby dinosaur many many years ago, and now all that was left was this bone.
So, yes I definitely have a dinosaur fan at home, and this book would make a great gift this year.

On my way home from work today I musing that I might search Gather for little boy gift ideas! I guess I just found it!
Thanks!!
It's hard to imagine my dinosaur-loving grandson not wanting this book. So please please pick me. Your offer has touched the soul of my dinosaur loving little boy.
It would be a gift he would treasure.
We read about dinosaurs in our National Geographic magazine, and watch documentaries on the Discovery and the National Geographic channels.
Unfortunately, I'm probably ineligible since I'm a Gather correspondent - but I will see about picking this up at the library or bookstore!
He is always coming up with questions about them I can't anwer.
As a mom with such a unique child on my hands, I am finding it increasingly difficult to put worthwhile informational books in his hands without exceeding his emotional comprehension level, which will remain a far cry from his reading level for quite some time. I have found that the fairly objective, non-emotional delivery system typical of most biographies and historical books is an ideal way to capture his interest without overwhelming (or corrupting!) his little mind.
I know my little reading reptile would LOVE Dinosaurium, and I would be confident (and grateful) letting him sink his teeth into it!
This would be a great chance for me and my son to review some books together. He enjoys looking at books and pretending that he is reading now. I would love to give him this set of books, as he does love to be read to on a daily basis.
We are a reading family, and always have been. My children grew up in the country, the nearest movie and shopping was twenty five miles away, so we read, and played outside a lot. And the study of dinosaurs is a big hit. My own children loved them, and Stephanie, who is three, is just now getting into them. As she loves to have "Daddy" read to her, (He loves this over playing Barbie or Store!, (Smile), this would be perfect for them. My son works sixty to seventy hours a week to give the girls and his wife all they can have. They have been together for about seventeen years. Michelle is thirteen going on twenty, and she is a "into" her privacy now, but Dad and Stephanie still spend some "Quality time," together , before bed, he is not ever too tired, and reading lets him sit down.
Stephanie loves purple and pink dinosaurs, and she has started to name them, knows quite a bit, and it has piqued her interest in the Earth, and "where "stuffs" go? I know it would be a family treasure, and I can see them all discussing it. I hope I have done well for them, and they and Stephanie have a chance, they like things they can all do together, and her Mom can have fun with her shopping for a new Dino and then reading about it. Thanks, and Merry Christmas. Ellen B
My five-year-old son Roshane, exclaimed a big WOW, when he opened this present as the first one, and he was so excited. He loves the little books you can take out, and he even asked, if he could bring it to bed to read to himself last night.
Thank you so much DK Publishing, this is an excellent book.
