In honor of the holiday season I have cooked up a-
Recipe for A Sweet Murder
Add the meat-
“If I’d known I was going to die today, I might have done things differently.”
Dump on some gravy-
A gutsy heroine in an unconventional job- “After a three-year apprenticeship and five years on the job, only my mother still thought this bricklaying thing was a fad.”
Stir in some drama- “Oh, it’s snowing already,” she said, “How pretty, I always like a new coat of snow. Cleans away your sins.”
A touch of scenery-“I climbed the stairs and stepped through the never-locked front door of my mother’s house with the usual tightening in my stomach. I waved away the stifling odor of Pinesol, greasy meat and air freshener.”
Lots of ice cream- “I licked at the spot of chocolate on my collar left from the flavor of the day (choco-banana fascination).”
One dirty little secret-
“Here,” she passed me a brown paper bag. “Feed your addiction.”
Sprinkle liberally with humor- “I met Mr. Right Now a couple of times, but no one whose underwear I wanted next to mine in the spin cycle.”
Top with a juicy murder- “I stared down. Someone stared back. A lone glassy eye looked right at me.”
Bake at 350° until goose bumps appear. Read in bed with a hot chocolate overflowing with marshmallows. Enjoy.
