First riding lesson

My daughter went to a camp to ride horses. The camp is run by her science teacher and her husband.  The horse my daughter rode is Jackie.  There were only two kids that showed up.  The other little girl sat terrified upon the horse and took about two steps.  My daughter sat high in the saddle and kicked the horse off she went.  She looked like she'd been riding for years.  I hope to buy the horse for her and the lady said she'd board the horse for us, and we'd just pay feed and medical.  My little girl was abused as a small child and one of the few good memories she has before coming to me was living next door to horses.  She loves all animals, and I think it would be wonderful if I can afford it.  Say a prayer for us that I can swing buying this horse for her.

What a wonderful story. I am glad she had so much fun and that she found a mother who will truly care for her.

I have always wanted a horse. I love them. I just financially can't swing it. And even more than that is the time needed to care for it.

What a great story! My little girl would give almost anything to have a horse of her own, or even just to be able to take lessons. She would love that so much!

You are a sweetheart, Carol, and I love this story! Good luck to you! You might also ask around -- often times there are families who end up with the horse of their daughter who has gone off to college. A horse that needs attention and riding. This could be an less expensive solution to your daughter's dream. She is so lucky to have you!

Carol - I grew up with horses, and while they are wonderful animals, they require a HUGE time commitment from their humans.

They must be exercised, fed, shod, and doctored constantly.

Yes, that would be great if you're able to pull off acquiring a horse for her. Do be aware, however, that the farrier and veterinary bills can get quite high if the animal develops a problem of some kind that demands extra attention.
