I put the pot on to boil.
And I quickly walked away
Not wanting to watch that pot
That would never boil,
So I could not eat that day

I was so very hungry though.
Yet, a watched pot never boils.
So how was I to know?
So I didn't watch that pot.
And I guess I'll never know.
I wonder if it ever boiled?
For I couldn't watch and stay.
Do not cry for me, old friend.
It's been a long hard day.
Now, my life's light is ebbing slow.
I see my Maker near.
My soul is no longer weary,
My body's hunger is all but spent.
I wonder if that pot ever boiled?
That cursed pot . . . Adieu!

A Scandalous Overture
Well, waddya know, but that she placed a pot of water on the stove to boil for some noodles. She walked away to wait, came back a few minutes later, to no water boiling. Waiting a bit longer, she walked back over and said, honey, this pot won't boil. He walked over and found the eye not even turned on! Guess his parents were right after all? LOL!
A little right. New brides have to learn to cook. Give 'em a break. That's funny. But of course I'm dead now and can't write this.

Time to start again with a fresh supply of water.
I can't help but imagine the same thing happening to Carol's pot - only nobody there to discover the pot running dry and turning off the heat.
Excellent piece.
