I think we all agree, (I mean all Christians) that Christmas is more than just presents we give to each other. The focus of a good Christian shifts from getting gifts to giving gifts. For us it has a deeper meaning than the lights so brightly displayed on the houses we pass by. We go and visit the elderly, the sick, the needy, and the lonely. We take the light of Christ with us and shared it with all.
To us it means that a small child was born in Bethlehem and, thanks to this event, we all can repent and be forgiven when we mess up. It also means that, thanks to this little child that grew up in righteousness and was killed for no fault of his own, we are blessed with the opportunity to return to live with him some day. He, and only he, opened the door for us to follow in his footsteps. Resurrection is free, but exaltation has a price that we all must pay. So as Christians should we not keep the spirit of Christmas in our hearts all year long?
Should we not love our neighbors as ourselves?
Should we not help and visit the elderly, the sick, the needy, and the lonely, all year long?
Are we not the angels of our God?
Yet, late on Christmas Eve, each year, I am left with the last gift on my list? What will I give to my Savior this new year?
