Dan (Cowboy Up) V just left this comment on my poppy photo from yesterday.
“Great color. The poppy could be straight from Flanders Fields as we remember those who have gone on before us this Memorial Day!”
Thanks for the reminder and the comment Dan.

I can't even imagine poppies growing wild. It must be a beautiful sight and a sad reminder of those who died for all of us.

In my small town there is a tea room with an amazing display of poppies in front of the building.

I thought I would share all the photos I took yesterday.

I edited them, cropped them and tweeked the brightness, saturation, and contrast.

It's the artist in me that makes me edit almost all of my photos. I want my photos to please my eye. I'm happy with the results.

Now I want to go to the nursery and get some to plant in my spring garden.

Enjoy your day, whatever you're doing.

All photos are taken by me and copyrighted. My camera is a Canon Powershot A720IS

I'm happy with the results, too!! Nice work.
Beautiful photos, as always. The Girl Scouts were passing out handmade red poppies at the Memorial Day ceremonies at our city park this morning.
Thank you for posting your photo essay at Pretty Pictures.
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
D D , thanks for the Memorial Day reminder. The poppies are beautiful.
Your photos are just beautiful!
Phil -I was going to do the same thing. Great minds think alike.
Gorgeous! Such bright, vivid color. Love the macros!
beautiful flowers!
Phil (above) took the poem right off my keyboard -- WITH the following exception:
The way we had to memorize the poem in gradeschool was:
"In Flanders Field, the poppies GROW,
Between the crosses, row on row..."
(Which, actually, when you think about it, makes more sense...)
However, the poppy in your first photo looks more like an "Oriental Poppy" rather than the "Icelandic" type that actually grows in Flanders Field... (Belgium).
Gorgeous color in those photos! Wonderful.
Beautiful photos. Let us never forget.
Beautiful Photos
Happy Memorial Day

FEATURED IN BLOOMER LOVERS!!!!
Beautiful photo essay! Every time I see poppies I think of the poem Flander's Fields, which I learned in the 8th grade and still remember. It's poignancy won't let it slip from my memory, even after all these year. Thank you!

Diva, Gorgeous! What incredible colors. TExture is like tissue! Fabulous post!
beautiful. I love the color.
You got some beautiful shots! We have some of this variety growing in our yard. Altho before they started to bloom they had been taking over the grassy areas and the neighbor told hubby they were weeds so he mowed over 90% of them.
