No thanks, I can get it myself... A mini photo essay

My daughter is 4 1/2 years old and thinks that most times she can do everything herself!  And for the most part, we give her the space she needs to atleast TRY it herself before we step in to help her out.  Yesterday she wanted some licorice, I said in a couple minutes because I'm busy right now. 

Well, not even 5 minutes later, I went to get her a piece and this is what I found...

 

Crawling up onto the counter...

 

 Do I want RED or BLACK licorice?

 

 Hand in the licorice jar...

 

 And the RED licorice wins!

My 6 y/o is like that, but he knows hes not allowed to climb on things, so I dont have to worry about him getting into anything out of reach. But he still tries.

At least she doesn't do what I used to. I use to use the upper cabinets as a pulling tool. Now that I know how they're attached, I have no idea how those things stayed on the wall through so many years of that.

I'm always getting onto Elliott about climbing up on stuff! It wouldn't be so bad if he could get back DOWN, but he never seems to be able to figure that part out and just kind of lets himself fall off the edge!
